Dragonborn10
Brady Cheating Brady Get lucky with some guys like Harrison and Vrabel Draft poorly Brady Have your assistants get overpaid and suck everywhere they go to make you look smarter than you actually are Brady Honestly is it so hard to figure out... Brady is the best QB in league history. He would have 5 rings if their defenses didn't lose fourth quarter SB leads. He has played poorly in maybe one playoff game at Denver. Other than that the guy has been virtually flawless. And it was all luck. Write it down as many times as you can and tell your kids now because in twenty years history will record how smart and what a genius Belicheat was. Kelly the Dog
Yet they were able to go 11-5 with Matt Cassel at QB even though he hadn't started a game since high school? One could easily argue, and probably be right, that because of Brady, the Patriots were able to assemble a very efficient team that was able to draw a lot of solid veteran free agents to it as cogs in the wheel, and they were able to withstand one year of Brady being gone. But very likely would not be able to keep that up as NE was no longer the prime destination and perennial super bowl favorite. Obviously, his evil twin Bellichick is part of that equation. But that, IMO, was what happened with Cassel. Honestly is it so hard to figure out... Brady is the best QB in league history. He would have 5 rings if their defenses didn't lose fourth quarter SB leads. He has played poorly in maybe one playoff game at Denver. Other than that the guy has been virtually flawless. He might also have 1 or no Super Bowl rings if his kicker were Scott Norwood instead of Adam Vinateri.

They draft pretty well--more pro bowlers than any other team over BBs first 10 years. Also, if your assistants suck elsewhere, doesn't that prove you are smarter than you seem to others? Also, if it's just the QB, how come other team with HOF QBs didn't have their success? Marino was a great QB, where are his rings? Brady never had a HOF RB, nor was a significant part of his career played with a HOF WR (unless Welker gets in someday). Jim Kelly, on the other hand, had teams loaded with HOF'ers and Pro Bowlers. No rings. P Manning--the other "greatest QB ever", 15 seasons and counting. A single SB victory over Rex Grossman. The difference is Bellichick. He runs every aspect of that team (that'scott Pioli offering to squeegee your window at this stoplight...). He would have had 4 rings with the Bills if he was HC instead of poor old Marv... Meathead
Yet they were able to go 11-5 with Matt Cassel at QB even though he hadn't started a game since high school? yes and that was also the season veteran players were taking LESS in an attempt to win an easy sb. that was the most stacked team they ever had by far fortunately it was also the very next season where career .500 pre-marcia belicheat started really pissing off his veteran players and they started leaving, thus putting balance and fairness back into the football universe

The only reason I don't think that would be true would because of the personalities the Bills had, it may have been tough to keep them fired up four years in a row like losing the Super Bowls did. He would have had us win a couple of them for sure, IMO, and perhaps four. Only one of those years were the Bills clearly the best team, the first year. But we probably would have beaten out the Cowboys at least one of the two years and maybe both, with Bellichick, even if he was only defensive coordinator and not HC. D521646
The Patriot system is easy on paper but difficult in practice, and you need a Brady and a Manning to pull it off. 1. Call two plays in the huddle, one running, one passing. 2. QB comes under center with about 15 seconds on the clock, looks around, calls for motion, looks around again. 3. Key is the safeties, and MIKE. 4. Two high safeties means run. 5. One or two safeties in the box means run or pass depending on whom is there and what side. 6. Nickle D means run or short crossing pass. 7. Blitz means run and or pass to the weak side. Of course it's more complcated than that and the WR and RB and O-line ALL need to be able to read the defense the same way the QB is. Hand signals or a coy glance is all it takes and the fix is in. The deep ball is only ever thrown when the D makes a mistake, or man coverage when the matchup is favorable, otherwise it's always short intermediate passes, and 3 - 5 yeard runs until the D blinks. That's it in a nutshell. tim-
