ChevyVanMiller Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Loved his balls hated his arm Quote from Captain Hook's wife?
Dragonborn10 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Wow crow tastes bad... Did not see this happening even though it was talked about endlessly... Full on rebuilding mode now...
RyanC883 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Nice. he'll ride the bench for a contender. Perhaps SF, AZ, etc.
bobobonators Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Wish you nothing but the best Fitz! Now, who's going to release Buddy?
eball Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I hope our genuine respect for "Fitz the Great Guy" and "Fitz the Awesome Teammate" doesn't lead to waxing poetic about Fitz the QB's career <80 QB rating and 33% W/L record. As a QB, the guy was middling at best. Gave us a few fun moments, but mostly disappointment. Thankfully he and his family are now set for life, and he still has his health. Best of luck to ya, Fitzy.
Kellyto83TD Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Personal level, Great guy. I wish him the best. QB level, he flat sucked and held this team back. Now that this nightmare is over, OBD is going to have to go all out to finally address the QB position.
D521646 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I think this will come back to bite us. I am shocked they let him go, well maybe not entirely shocked but a little. Tim-
atlbillsfan1975 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Addition by Subtraction! Cutting him means this franchise has th eposibility of moving forward. Another year with Fitz...well see the last 2+.
Heels20X6 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 He helped us in our one win against the Pats. For that, he'll always hold a special place in my heart.
Stealth Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 So we cut a bad qb and we're left with no qb's. Nothing really to celebrate starting from scratch. I'm indifferent towards this. Fitzpatrick was never gonna get us anywhere but neither is Tjax.
Bronc24 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I said I would get drunk if this happened!!! And I never drink... I work till 8 PM then it's time to hit the bottle... Cheers Bro... Right back atcha.
Cash Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 They saved 7 mil in cash, and can split the cap hit between the next two years if they wish, like 30-70 IIRC. I was under the impression that they could only split the cap hit if they cut him some time after the bonus was payed out -- like March 21 or something? Or maybe they only had to cut him after the start of the league year, in which case they can split it. Could a capologist weigh in? Not worth handing the guy 3 million in cash. That is a lot of cash to give a guy. Nothing to do with cap hit. It's all about the cash. I don't think it's "nothing" to do with the cap hit, but given the choice between cap hit of: A.) $10.x million cap hit, Fitz on the roster, $3 million bonus check gone, and about $4 million in salary guaranteed if Fitz makes the opening day roster -- whether he starts or not, or B.) $10.x million cap hit, need to fill another QB spot on the roster, no financial commitments yet (B) is the clear winner. The only way for Fitz to stay on the team would have been to take a salary the Bills were comfortable paying a backup, and waive most of that $3mil bonus. Fitz wasn't willing to do that, so away he goes. I'll be interested to see where he lands and for how much.

Kirby Jackson Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Might be worth taking a run at Cousins, Flynn or even Mallett. I am not a huge fan of this years qbs. But I like the group next year. Get a young guy for a year and see if they can play and if not next year (Manziel, Bridgewater, Murray, etc...
xsoldier54 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Great news for you Fitz haters, Tavaris Jackson is now your starting QB, I'll take him over Fitz in a heartbeat, but stay tuned. I'm sure that will change at some point before game one.
BRAWNDO Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Seven million more in salary cap room, gotta like that
BobbyC81 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Like everyone else, I knew the Bills needed an upgrade at QB. Will be interesting, though, what is said here when Fitz's replacements tally like 12 TD passes next season.
