Dragonborn10 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Not worth that kind of money. Nix/Whaley had better have a plan for the OL though...
RkFast Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 So draft a player, put time into him and then just as soon as he gets good, he can walk. Yay, parity!
BillsCelticsAngelsBama Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 He's got a high motor though, and plays like what's left of his hair is on fire. Nice One Well, since they are not signing someone to a BIG contract, shouldn't the Bills end up getting some comp? Next year.... I believe
habes1280 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 So draft a player, put time into him and then just as soon as he gets good, he can walk. Yay, parity! Yeah, it's frustrating to continue to come into drafts with more needs than picks, but what could they do? That's a huge offer and there are a lot of holes to fill.
Dr. Fong Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I have a feeling he didn't want to be here and that's too much money to pay for a guard. Too bad. Turn the page.
Fan in Chicago Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Per Shefter. 5 years, $39 million. I thought the Bills should have signed him for 5 yr/$40 MM. I am surprised the Bills did not beat that offer. On record here to say I am extremely disappointed.
Bill from NYC Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) This is horrible news. The Titans got him for a fair price too. He was easily one of our 5 best players. And he was durable and young. This should never have happened. Edited March 12, 2013 by Bill from NYC
Dean Cain Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I will cry if and when we draft a QB in the 1st round only to not pay up when the rookie contract expires.
PromoTheRobot Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 This is horible news. They got him for a fair price too. He was easily one of our top 5 best players. And he was durable and young. This should never have happened. $8M/yr for an OG is fair? PTR
nucci Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 So draft a player, put time into him and then just as soon as he gets good, he can walk. Yay, parity! Happens to all teams. Jake Long probably leaving Dolphins, Wallace leaving Steelers.....
Lurker Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 So draft a player, put time into him and then just as soon as he gets good, he can walk. Yay, parity! Just think of how this board would have reacted if he was the #1 pick in his draft class, instead of #51...
Chandler#81 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Best wishes, Andy. dammit! I HATE to lose good players. Personally, I don't think that's a budget buster and probably in line with top tier OG. Dammit!
BuffOrange Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Too much for an OG who's never made a Pro Bowl or had playoff experience. He's a fine player, but that is a budget buster... Can't think of two things I care less about in an OG than playoff experience and Pro Bowls.
RyanC883 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Too much for an OG who's never made a Pro Bowl or had playoff experience. He's a fine player, but that is a budget buster... Exactly. Hope he enjoys Tenn. He is more easily replaced than Byrd or Wood, who we have money to pay by letting him go. Overpaying for your own FA is as bad as overpaying for another teams.
DrDawkinstein Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) This is horrible news. The Titans got him for a fair price too. He was easily one of our 5 best players. And he was durable and young. This should never have happened. But it did. And there was almost nothing the Bills could have done about it. Blame Andy. Edited March 12, 2013 by DrDareustein
habes1280 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 And wow-- this just in-- the Dolphins ink Mike Wallace in 5 year/$65 million deal. (Again, per Shefter)
KD in CA Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 This is horrible news. The Titans got him for a fair price too. He was easily one of our 5 best players. And he was durable and young. This should never have happened. Yeah, I'm disappointed too Bill, but $8MM is a big price tag. That's money than can help fix the LB core.
Mark Vader Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Now we have another need for this team to address.
QCity Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Don't like to lose him but I applaud the FO for letting him walk at that price.
Virgil Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 But it did. And there was almost nothing the Bills could have done about it. Blame Andy. They could have signed him last year like they should of. Guy is possibly the best G in the league. 8 mil is not that ridiculous. This is crap and I'm not happy with the Bills for letting him walk like that
