John Cocktosten Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 That is funny. Someone else was complaining that he has no plan. The Buddy Bashers like to have it both ways. Well, he hand picked Gailey, picked FItz as the QB of the future and went from the 43 to a 34 and back to a 43. In Buddy's manifesto named, "Rebuilding the BIlls", those 3 moves were under Chapter 1 titled 'The Foundation". He deserves more than Bashers.
4BillsintheBurgh Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I would say we did though. Baring injury, Fitz is never going to start another game for the Bills. He's not even going to serve as a place warmer until our new rookie QB is ready to start. Not only that, it looks like the Bills have already made up their mind to cut him if he doesn't decide to restructure. That's a lot right there. I thought Buddy said Fitz has got to do something or the bills are going to do something because you can't pay that kind of money to a backup.
John Cocktosten Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 But he wasn't letting EVERYONE know, he was letting one other NFL GM know... Also, we just released Fitz - think other teams know we were having problems with him now? And you don't think Dominik knows anyone in any other organization that might like to know if we are going to move on Levitre? They are all talking to each other right now, that's how something like this happens in the first place. I'm sure this phone call facilitated the release.
QCity Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Clairvoyants? Helen Keller could have told you that Fitz was never going to be the QB of the future. And yet 4 posts ago you were whining that Buddy Nix told somebody this big secret. Which is it?
Doc Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 yep, Gawker doesn't back down from any legal threat. They've taken on Apple and Hulk Hogan to name a few. This isn't a legal threat. Deadspin broke the law.
PromoTheRobot Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 This isn't a legal threat. Deadspin broke the law. This is a gray area. If Deadspin were a FCC-licenced radio or TV station they would be boned right now. It's less clear if posting audio on a website breaks the same laws. It's a classic case of technology outpacing the law. PTR
BillsVet Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Well, he hand picked Gailey, picked FItz as the QB of the future and went from the 43 to a 34 and back to a 43. How can anyone retain someone, advocate for that guy, and expect fans to nod in agreement?
Mr. WEO Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 This isn't a legal threat. Deadspin broke the law. How? Fitz released /thread Buddy must have been reading this thread. Glad we could help him solve his "Fitz problem". Now he can unleash his FA fever.
cosmo Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 yep, Gawker doesn't back down from any legal threat. They've taken on Apple and Hulk Hogan to name a few. Yeah, forgot about that apple thing. If they could avoid any legal trouble after leaking pics and info of a stolen iphone prototype, which could have actually been damaging to the company (unlike this situation), no way they're going down for this.
Doc Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 How? They recorded a conversation between two people without their knowledge and/or consent.
CodeMonkey Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 They recorded a conversation between two people without their knowledge and/or consent. They published online a recorded conversation between two people without their knowledge and/or consent made by other people.
Cash Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 They recorded a conversation between two people without their knowledge and/or consent. No, two random 20-year-olds did that. Deadspin posted the recording, which may or may not also be illegal.
John Cocktosten Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 And yet 4 posts ago you were whining that Buddy Nix told somebody this big secret. Which is it? Context my man. I was commenting on a thread that laughably said that you'd have to be Nostradomus in order to know that Fitz was going to suck. If you don't think this phone call facilitated FItz's release than you're just dumb enough to defend Buddy.
Saint Doug Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Will we at least get a compensation pick from this?
QCity Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 If you don't think this phone call facilitated FItz's release than you're just dumb enough to defend Buddy. That's hysterical. If you think this phone call had anything to do with Fitz's release you probably also beleive the moon landing was faked and the pyramids were built by aliens. Do you sleep with all that tinfoil on your head? A number of us had laid out months ago (in great detail) exactly what was going to happen with Fitz, not by guesswork, but with logic and deductive reasoning. And you know what? It happened exactly as we said it would. The only question left after the Nix story was how soon would the kooks show up to blame his release on a leaked phone call. That question just got answered too.
The Big Cat Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 It's so nice to read all of the clairvoyant's on the TBD who just knew Fitz wouldn't turn out to be decent. Even though, at the time, Fitz was playing well. It's nice to read all of the armchair GM's who speak of a crippling, retarded, etc. contract for Fitz. Too bad it's BACK END middle tier, starting QB money. You all are so intelligent and know every damn thing why don't you circulate your resume for any NFL job, be it scout, GM, capologist or whatever. You all are so good at the gig you're wasting your time on a message board. The NFL deserves your ample abilities. You all have no idea how GM's in the NFL communicate. It's funny that Nix didn't say anything that EVERYBODY doesn't already know. And turned down the idea of Jamon Meredith (we are set at OT if he's the option). Nix ain't perfect, but he's done a lot of good things too. The worst thing about the Bills past 13, ain't even turning out to be the Bills past 13 years. It's the whining azz cry babies on the message board every other second. If they make a move: complain. If they don't make a move: complain. Whinin'BillsDrive.com. Please... On a good note, Fitz is out just like he should be. Case closed. Folks, we have an early submission for post of the year.
Saint Doug Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Well, now I know why Russ was pushing the analytics department so much.
ICanSleepWhenI'mDead Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) Not responding to anybody in particular, but if anybody wants to actually figure out the legality and consequences of the original recording and its later publication, this is a good resource: http://www.dmlp.org/...d-conversations Edit: Sorry, didn't realize the link was previously posted - - very rapid thread. Kelly the Dog Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 The Bills offered him a very small contract, before this came out, at only 3m a year for four years. And he and everyone else knew that they also signed Tjax to be a back-up and they would be drafting a QB high. This very likely had ZERO to do with his decision. He will get that money easily on another team. I thought they would offer him a lot more, for like two years. If I were him, I would have turned it down immediately, too, with nothing to do with the tape. It's possible the tape simply made the decision a little easier, but ultimately had zero effect on his decision.
