Gugny Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 If someone needed a vital organ to live and I was a match, I would donate an organ if it wouldn't shorten my own life. Especially if it was for a child in need. And I wouldn't expect any compensation for it. But is there such a thing as a luxury organ/extremity donation? I'm just sitting here thinking about ways to earn supplemental income, and it occurred to me ... What if Lance Armstrong wanted to have both testicles again, and I was a match? Not a life and death move and the guy could afford it, you know? Or if there is a huge breakthrough and Def Leppard's drummer wants to have two arms again. Or John Wayne Bobbitt .... Wait ... No.
DC Tom Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Donate your brain to science. It'd be well worth studying a brain that's never been used.
truth on hold Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I think in the US at least selling ones organs is illegal. If I remember correctly this came up when people were listing their kidneys on EBay. Could be wrong and not interested enough to look it up

BringBackFergy Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Skin is an organ and the ability to replicate DNA could lead to some cloning in the near future. I mean, it would be amazing to have multiple Princess Kates (one for every household) but multiple DC Toms is where I draw the line.
bbb Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 When Ron Jeremy was in ICU last month, it turned out that I was a perfect match.
