Hapless Bills Fan Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 (edited) Looks like there might be something to this: http://www.buffalone...two-bills-drive Uncertain? The title of the article is "Nelson thinks Bills cut him due to injury". Except he wasn't cut, he just wasn't tendered and as the article points out, the Bills could still make him an offer as could other teams. The body of the article says Nelson is running routes with Seneca Wallace, and originally wasn't scheduled to do so until April which makes it sound as though his rehab is going a bit better than expected. Maybe, but you still don't know whether he'll be back to his previous state, which while promising, wasn't exactly elite. And then there's the mental aspect. I don't know if I blame the Bills not wanting to commit $1.3M by tendering him (at the lowest level).

Nelson's agent is probably texting him "STFU, man!" The article linked got excerpted by other sites (in this case a fantasy site but I bet there are insider scout/talent sites that do similar): "Buffalo Bills impending free-agent WR David Nelson (knee) recently began running routes and is working out with free-agent QB Seneca Wallace (Browns). He said he is lacking the confidence in putting all the pressure on his knee and making cuts. He said he also needs to strengthen his hamstring." No misquote or quoting out of context - Nelson in fact said all that. He also said he's ahead of schedule and wasn't supposed to be running routes at all until April. But quotes about lacking confidence to make cuts and lacking strength in the hammie aren't exactly gonna help his agent line teams up to bid on him.
