any of you duke supporters wanna comment on Wojo going nose to nose yelling at referees with no repercussions?

whiny babies....with longer slack than the rest.

Ive seen plenty of coaches argue/get in faces with no repercussions, it just stands out to you when the duke staff does it becuase you are a hater : )

I just dont see the whiny-ness, show me anything where coach K has blamed the refs for a loss and ill eat my hat - complaining in game? yea thats coaching...can you hear what they are saying/arguing about??

As a coach myself, I can easily see where communicating with a ref could be construed as "whining" - especially when you cant actually hear what is being discussed

I dont know, dont really care.

I dont agree with getting rid of it completely. Just giving the other team a minute to get off the playing area.

edit: and it hasnt been 100%. Skip Bayless just mentioned Vanderbilt was fined $25,000 in 2002 for storming the court. Again, dont really care. Let the kids storm if they want to, just secure the other team.

Curious that you don't care about football where the potential for injuries is higher, but no matter.

Stopping fans from storming the court isn't something that can be easily stopped or delayed, as I stated earlier. The reason I've asked about football is because the SEC fan's passion about football is very similar to the ACC fan's about BB.

BUT...if all you want to do is protect the visiting team (I think that's the goal here) then having sufficient security to circle the visitors and escort them off the court can be accomplished and those measures should be in place now.

im not sure if you have seen Wojo's from the other day..........espn or some show commented on it........it was a little over the top.

nose to nose yelling is different than a little disagreement.

of course I saw it, Im a fan, do you not watch bills games? : )

sure it was over the top...so thats your one instance of duke going over the top and getting more slack than other coaching staffs? 1 instance isnt too much of an argument haha

refs make calls, coaches argues, ref listens/argues back/ T's em up - you think refs really think going into a game "oh this is dukes staff, ill let them get in my face and give them all the calls?" lol

Its not that I dont care about football, I was saying I dont really care about this issue because it shouldnt be an issue. If a school wants to let its students storm the field, fine, just make sure the opposing team gets off the field safely. If a school decides they dont want that much liability and takes measures to prevent it, which is possible, that's fine too.

Clearly you don't watch enough Duke games. Coach K is right. Protect the players.

what do you mean? how many blue devils have been injured over the past 20 years when fans storm the court?

Posted

ripping down the goal posts USED to be part of college football until it was deemed unsafe and not allowed - it can be prevented, mace those little drunk co-eds : )

the bottom line is: coach K is well within his right to voice his concern over safety, every time they lose its an earth shattering event where college kids storm the court....

and as a duke fan, I disagree he gets all the calls : )

In spite of the fact that I'm a Duke fan, I need to agree that that the Devils seem to get more than their fair share of debatable calls.

Not enough to make up for all the calls the Bills get screwed on though.

just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it is excusable. Act like you've been there before. Win with class

As far as UNC/Duke. I live hear. I used to like both. I've been to many UNC games vs nc state. Clemson. Kent. I have seen how disrespectful those fans are and never seen a sorrier bunch f crybabies. Haynesborough got fouled by accidental contact. Not even that hard. The opposing Kent player had things thrown at him when he went to the bench. Kent was down by at least 20. Any time the player got the ball he was booed.

Hell, the year Dayton beat UNC in the loser championship fans here stop whined abut how they belonged in he tourney.

I have only seen worse fans in the state above Ohio. But those people get excused for having to live in such a crap state.

No Duke fan but he's right. It's the problem with sports fans. We all love our teams but some reason, some folks feel like they are on the team. Like a Pats fans feel like they are better people because their team is better than my team. You're not on the team and had nothing to do with the win.

And what if a Duke player feels threaten or a fan gets in his face. He hits one, he's a thug or a brawl breaks out. Running on the field should be for something extremely rare, like the Bills making the playoffs.

It's always very obvious, well in advance, when the home team's student section is going to storm the court (unless it is a buzzer beater shot scenario). If you are the visiting team, and you don't get off the court in time, this is your fault. I have a great deal of respect for coach K, but I sure wouldn't mind seeing some dukies get trampled

!@#$ Duke and !@#$ off Coach K :D

Indeed.

So, what if a visiting coach feels that the safety of his players is threatened by the proximity of the f'ng dork Cameron Crazies, what will Coach K say then?

Posted (edited)

Heard UVA's official statement that Duke had police escort and went from court to tunnel in one minute.

UVA offersno apology, they are still on cloud 9 from the win

I saw a pic on another board that showed that the Duke players and coaches were not in danger

Hasn't he publicly told duke fans not to put visitors in that situation?
