IDBillzFan Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 While I reserve the right to change my mind, my favorite part of this entire event right now is watching the man who came up with idea, got it passed and then signed it into law telling everyone how "dumb" it is. It takes a special kind of window licker to lead like this, and by golly Barack Obama is one special kind of window licker.

I kind of respect the fact that he put this together, got it passed and put it on the line... where I think Obama failed here is that the amounts were kitty..... if he has set-up sequester cuts at 15-20% of the Federal Budget, then that is a very scary way to execute spending cuts, but perhaps then btoh sides would be able to come together because they stakes are so high... there is just is no real sense of urgency at 2.5% except in political posturing, the blame game and chest pounding... but it solves nothing really.. I mean, honestly, 2.5%... its kind of comical... heck, its laughable and everybody deep down inside from citizens to poltician knows its true... there was no meat to the cuts, thats why they came to pass...
IDBillzFan Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I kind of respect the fact that he put this together, got it passed and put it on the line... You can respect that all you want, but you have to shake your head in disbelief that this child of a man is blaming everyone but himself for this law. That he would meet with leaders today, and then leave the meeting to CONTINUE demagoguing everyone in his path tells you everything you need to know about the character of Barack Obama. He tried. He failed. He blamed. Just like every bad employee you've ever had to clean up after...
IDBillzFan Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Man, you really gotta love die-hard liberals. Best sequester article yet from HuffPost :The Sequester and the Tea Party Plot! http://www.huffingto..._b_2788453.html Imagine a plot to undermine the government of the United States, to destroy much of its capacity to do the public's business, and to sow distrust among the population. Imagine further that the plotters infiltrate Congress and state governments, reshape their districts to give them disproportionate influence in Washington, and use the media to spread big lies about the government. Finally, imagine they not only paralyze the government but are on the verge of dismantling pieces of it. Far-fetched? Perhaps. But take a look at what's been happening in Washington and many state capitals since Tea Party fanatics gained effective control of the Republican Party, and you'd be forgiven if you see parallels. You have to love the last line: Is this ridiculous? Sure. But still, what if it weren't?
B-Man Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 http://www.businessi...stration-2013-3 "I can’t do some kind of Jedi Mind Meld on congressional Republicans," Obama said. Fail: Obama mixes up Star Wars and Star Trek references, causing nerd rage Enjoy this clip, folks, because this moment of cultural illiteracy from the coolest guy in the country is the only failure of his most low-information voters will ever hear about. (Video at link) Don’t fool yourself into thinking the lede from a presidential press conference should be anything more substantial than this these days. The quality of questions prohibits it, and the electorate doesn’t demand it. Just be glad that today’s stupid lede actually includes an Obama mistake. So, here’s the “news.” Learn it, love it, meme it. Buzzfeed examines Obama’s mistake in detail, and the Twittersphere has already ramped up mockery under #JediMindMeld and #ObamaSciFi. Among my favorites: "Mr. Scott, beam or beam not, there is no try" "Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor not your father." “I feel a great disturbance in the Farce. It’s as if thousands of voices suddenly tweeted out and were silenced…” .

Which, according to the monthly unemployment reports from BLS, would spike unemployment all the way up to 8.1% (adjusted). Someone tell Maxine that we need to lose at least eleventy-gajillion jobs before it's a problem. Again, that's as much over-simplified pablum as the "The sky is falling!" crowd is shoveling. The cuts aren't out of the entire federal budget, they're out of discretionary spending (basically, the operating budget, exclusive of mandatory spending such as SSI, Medicaid, debt servicing, etc.) So while it's "2.6 cents out of every dollar" in the entire federal budget, it's closer to ten cents out of every dollar the government actually spends to do its job. You can argue about that all you want: can and should the government provide the same services on 10% less, is it apocalyptic or completely irrelevant? But at least use the correct !@#$ing numbers when you do. Again: GET THE !@#$ING NUMBERS RIGHT.
keepthefaith Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Did some traveling this week and even local newscasts in smaller towns simply parroted Obama's statements of fright about these cuts. The only hope is that Bob Woodward's recently popularity as a guy willing to tell it like it is rubs off on more "journalists".

3rdnlng Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 The problem is that only discretionary spending is being dealt with. 85b out of 3.7 trillion is a pittance. 85b out of 850b (entitlements make up the rest of the 3.7 trillion) though makes people stand up and notice. We could eliminate 100% of the discretionary spending and still not balance the budget. Paul Ryan tried to address the problem of entitlements, but the dems demonized him. We have people in charge that really don't care what happens to this republic and want nothing more than the chickens coming home to roost.
B-Man Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) Barack the Blameless, Part IV In our last episode we related how our hero was preparing to blame The Sequester (and by extension Republicans) for every malady large and small to befall America and Americans after March 1 — maladies more honestly attributable to administration policies. Our hero wasted no time in today’s press conference confirming his intentions: "Lay offs and pay cuts means (sic) that people will have less money to spend at local businesses. That means lower profits. That means fewer hires. So every time that we get a piece of economic news over the next month, next two months, next six months, or as long as the sequester’s in place, we’ll know that that news could have been better if congress had not failed to act." (Emphasis added.) Disposable income dropped in January by the most it has in more than 50 years, largely because of the increase in payroll taxes. But the president, WITH MEDIA COMPLICITY, will blame the drop on The Sequester. Obama sees The Sequester as his Get Out of Jail Free Card for the next four years . Edited March 2, 2013 by B-Man

3rdnlng Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 No one listened to me. You think they're going to listen to you? After your ammunition FUBAR, I have a following. Hey, all bs aside, I think this is an issue that we agree on. It amazes me that so many people missed the point---even the guys with some smarts.
Nanker Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Oh darn. He wants to spend a dollar and came up ten cents short. Somebody loan me a dime.

You may have been right about ONE RFP FOR EITHER 200,000 or 20,000,000. I don't care. You missed the entire point. The thread was about RFP's for up to 1.6 BILLION rounds. It wasn't about Infowars, the AP, or the Huffington Post. It was about the federal government's desire to purchase an extraordinary amount of ammunition over 4 years time. You, finding some obscure RFP and claiming that was the only one out there was pure BFBF. It's like you've been taking spin lessons from Obama.
B-Man Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 One would hope that the spectacle the Democrats have made of themselves over the prospect of only a modest increase in federal spending for FY 2013 (sequestration) would be enlightening to a lot of voters. Sadly, I think that it won't matter much.
