FTW_BillsFan Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 What is the 2005 cap number going to be and what is our current cap number for 2005? TIA
Dan Gross Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I would imagine the 2005 cap number will be based on the negotiations for the night games....AFAIK they are still on-going.
LabattBlue Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I am pretty sure I read in the last few weeks that the cap is going up for each team, but I can't remember what the amount is. Maybe something like 3-5 million??
ch19079 Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 all i know is the dolphins are screwed with like 14 mil over. last i looked we were 1 mill under. if moulds restructures, than it will be alot less.
Ramius Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 remember, we'll also have rueben brown's 4 mil in dead space off the cap...
Like A Mofo Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 remember, we'll also have rueben brown's 4 mil in dead space off the cap... 197689 Ruben is still haunting the Bills!!!
CosmicBills Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Most NFL GMs and owners are expecting a major bump in the 2005 salary cap. Based on the NFL's monster new TV deal, the players Union will be hankering for a bigger piece of the pie. I have read some reports that estimate up to a 15 percent jump in the salary cap this year. A lot of people are speculating that the Colts are banking on precisely that (makes sense when you look at all the moves they made after the deal came through). I don't expect it to be quite that high. However, the exact figure won't be reached until after the Super Bowl. For now it's all a guessing game.

I'd like to see a 'Special Teamer' designation with the added roster spot so a team could keep a special teams demon even if he isn't so hot at his 'official' position.
Spanky46 Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 The NFL Cap figure for all NFL teams to be under this year is 86 million dollars according to Gil Brandt on Sirius NFL Radio. I do not know where the Bills stand however.
Dan Gross Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 The NFL Cap figure for all NFL teams to be under this year is 86 million dollars according to Gil Brandt on Sirius NFL Radio. I do not know where the Bills stand however. 197967 If true, that would be a jump of $5.5 million. Pretty significant.
clumping platelets Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 It was recently reported that the unadjusted salary cap would be between $85.5-$86.5 million. Each team is subject to a cap adjustment (balancing out of NLTBE and LTBE) which could either add or subtract cap space. Bills had a cap debit of about $820,000 in 2004.
drnykterstein Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 we got room. even donahoe doesnt know the full free space, they gotta look at payouts on incentives and such and add that all in. i'd bet its 5-8 mill free
clumping platelets Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 At this point, it's closer to $5 million. 1) Likely cap debit (less cap space) 2) Salary escalator for Mike Williams 3) Fill out top 51
Spiderweb Posted January 8, 2005 Posted January 8, 2005 I think its around 8 Million. 197741 I heard, read, that with the projected increase in the CAP, we're going to be around 8 to 9 mil under, but that escalator clauses in some current contracts could reduce this number.
