RkFast Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) For some reason, the other thread was locked. Not sure why, the debate was fine and civil. IMO, she ran a good race, but I dont see where the "history" is here as far as women participating in motorsports is concerned. As I pointed out in the other thread, there have been a lot of other women in NASCAR over years, dating back to 1949. Further, women in other pro motorsports, namely NHRA Drag Racing have accomplished MUCH more than Patrick has AND in less time and with fewer team resources. IMO, shes a media creation. Thoughts? Gugny Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 She will go down as the best looking racer to finish 8th in the 2013 Daytona 500. Other than that ... no.
KD in CA Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Janet Guthrie on the other hand, made some history.
mrags Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 She will go down as the best looking racer to finish 8th in the 2013 Daytona 500. Other than that ... no. was just about to ask if she was the first racer to go topless for the entire race. That "history" I'd like to see.
dib Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 If she looked like a troll no one would give a rats' buttock
NoSaint Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 She's not Jackie Robinson, nor has she been made out to be, or will she be remembered as. That said, a female being successful in the boys club is noteworthy. A woman on the poll at the Daytona 500 is a breakthrough, even if not earth shattering. If you were a 16 year old girl aspiring to do something traditionally male this might hit you more than it does as a crotchety old man.
Beerball Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Some of our more sensitive moderators have a hard time distinguishing between civil debate and PPP-style debate. the OP closed the thread. Take it up with him.
Jauronimo Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Yes she did. Last weekend Danica became the first woman to successfully travel 500 miles in a car without stopping to go the bathroom 8 times.

Meathead Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 yes she did. last weekend danica became the first racer to use her left blinker one thousand times
BillsFanM.D. Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Heard on ESPN radio this AM that she was the 13th person ever to have led laps in both the Indy 500 and Daytona 500.
Guffalo Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 . A woman on the poll at the Daytona 500 is a breakthrough, even if not earth shattering. If you were a 16 year old girl aspiring to do something traditionally male this might hit you more than it does as a crotchety old man. But a woman on a stripper pole is not earth shattering for the crotchety old men here,
The Poojer Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I started and locked the thread..because I felt like it and I'm not a moderator... go ahead and get your panties in a bunch over this highly important debate. That wasn't the intent of the thread I started. Flame away!

That wasn't the intent of the thread I started. Flame away! Hey man, we are just debating the race. Thats all. And it wasnt much of a "race" to debate, so we are on to the other topics of the event.
boyst Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 She led a lap. Had the best car on the field and played safe all day just to hang in. Watch the rest of the season and then see how relevant she is...
sodbuster Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I know there is a joke in here somewhere about finishing before her boyfriend. Then again, she did have a head start...
4merper4mer Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 She didn't make "history" she made "herstory".
Helpmenow Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 The NHRA has some woman who are driving nitro funny cars and top fuel cars . She gets the most pub.
PromoTheRobot Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) Danica showed she belongs. She is a capable driver. But she does get stupid amounts of attention. Is that her fault or the fawning media? By the way, Milka Duno is wayyyy hotter! PTR Edited February 26, 2013 by PromoTheRobot
