DC Tom
I knew you would show up sooner or later. A glutton for punishment. 197784 I wasn't paying attention to this at all...then I saw the number of pages hit 8, and said "BF must be involved by now, let's see what sort of mental retardation he's spewing this time..." You never disappoint.
stevestojan
I tried to discuss in a quality fashion until you turned it into a pissing match (I'm STILL willing to discuss). 197796 Pissing match? I've given my opinion six ways from Sunday. I think everyone knows where I stand. I think he's a dick and should give the ball the MLB for it to go into the HOF. EZCBoston thinks he would only end up giving it to the RedSox and they would make money showing it off. (good point). I still think it should be in a museum, and not in a bank vault. It's eventually going to be bastardized to the Sox, and that is that. Hopefully, one day it will show up in the HOF - or at least a story about it will. BF_in_Indiana
Using gmacs post to make my point (so you can understand my previous sentence) timmy (sh--) wrote this: The guy was a nobody on the team (wrong) He wasn't a nobody. Most FANS would give that ball up (wrong, and you even said you wouldn't give back a famous ball yourself) In trying to make your point (this being a central point to the discussion) you stated you would keep the ball yourself, yet tell everyone he is a piece of trash for doing it with as much legal right to do so as you would have to do it. he's lucky they signed him at all (true in the sense that he's lucky he got traded to a good team, he could start for many teams though) Who cares, we aren't discussing that Steve. Barely a .200 average (wrong) Once again, who cares about this, not even a part of the discussion. and a backup fielder (yes, this year he was a defensive specialist...) See the last two. stevestojan
Ass hat, listen... I said I would keep it. Of COURSE I would keep it. Why? Because I would sell it to either 1) Pay off my student loans (see: when big kids graduate high school, they go to college. Sometimes, it's very expensive, so nice people give you money and charge you and arm and a leg in interest that you have to pay back when you are done.) 2) Save it for a down payment on a house (because not all of us still live in our mom's basement). However, if I was a pro basball player, and knew how much the city, my team, and the sport would appreciate the ball, and I WAS MAKING $3 MILLION A YEAR FROM THE TEAM THAT WANTS THE BALL, I would probably give my VERY generous employer what they wanted. gmac17
well .215 IS barely .200. Like a 19 year old is barely legal. he actually batted .238 for the year, .215 in Boston (which makes sense since he wasn't playing very often)

It just as easily could have boosted his average. . . he bats 20 times, and pops 7 base hits on some lucky bounces, he's batting .350...

Major League Baseball purchases the baseballs used in the World Series. Yes or no? 2. Major League Baseball allows players to keep balls from historic games for their own personal use. Yes or no? 3. The player is entitled to the ball from the last out of the World Series according to past precedent. Yes or no? 4. The Red Sox have no legal claim to this baseball. Yes or no?
