The Poojer
i'd heard there was a shrine to the first american male saint in the northern liberties area of Philly. I had a beer event planned for 11AM today in a closeby part of town(old city) so i got up and out early. St. John Neumann is the Saint in question, so i go there and there he is in a glass case, his face was very waxy so i imagine he has been restored and he's not actually preserved there(ok, turns out his remains are buried below the shrine)...well seeing a saint is not an everyday occurance, so in and of itself was pretty cool...well i go into the little museum off the shrine and there's his history and theres all these pictures of places in tonawanda, kenmore and buffalo...turns out he 'built' my grandmothers church in kenmore and his log cabin is somewhere on the site of the church. How cool is that....my parents filled me in on all the deets for my grandmas church.... of course then i bee lined to my beer event and enjoyed some of the finest hoppy ales and scotch/wee heavy's being made in the country....a pretty religious experience all around today.... sorry about the graniness of the picture...there were others in the chapel and i felt kind of weird taking a picture so i went to the back and zoomed in...
