ChevyVanMiller Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 NFL mulls storm back-up plans... What do you think, would a Super saturday be okay with you? http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/8940414/nfl-mulling-super-bowl-xlviii-backup-plans-report
RyanC883 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Actually, SuperBowl Saturday every year would be fine w/ me. More time to party w/o having to worry about work the next day.
Jerry Jone's Toupee Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Roger is starting to re think this northern open air Super Bowl idea.
jimmy10 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I think the Super Bowl being held on a Saturday is a fantastic idea.
ThurmasThoman Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 makes no sense to have it on sunday as it is. they play wildcard and divisional games on satuday every year. they play football on thursday all year now. make it on saturday, watch another 25 million people tune in. if goodell does that one thing, his legacy would be iron clad forever.
Malazan Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I'd rather it was on a Saturday as well. I've heard the argument against it is they want people to have an extra night of partying. If it was on Saturday, people would be packing up and going home on Sunday.
mead107 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 That would mean I have to go to work on Sunday night. Would be the first time in 15 years.
EmotionallyUnstable Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Actually, SuperBowl Saturday every year would be fine w/ me. More time to party w/o having to worry about work the next day.
CodeMonkey Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Saturday works for me as well. But I doubt it will happen on a regular basis due to the simple fact that the host city wants Saturday night for their businesses, restaurants, etc. to get one last big payday.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Saturday works for me as well. But I doubt it will happen on a regular basis due to the simple fact that the host city wants Saturday night for their businesses, restaurants, etc. to get one last big payday. Good call. Such a shame-- sat Super Bowl would be ideal.
first_and_ten Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) I think if the NFL polled the fans, Sat. Super Bowl would win hands down. The question is, why doesn't the NFL change it to Sat.? Could it be the Networks? Is it the Advertisers? An 8:00 pm kickoff on Sat. night would be great. Edited February 13, 2013 by first_and_ten
ganesh Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I would love Saturday too...It would be Sunday morning for me in India and at least I can sit and watch the game without having to rush to work.
marauderswr80 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Love the idea of a super bowl saturday!!!
BuffaloWings Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I don't know...Superbowl Sunday has been a tradition because the NFL plays their games on Sundays. Yes, there are Thursday night games, an occasional Saturday night game, and the playoffs on Saturdays, but that's not a reason to move the game to Saturday. The host city probably gets a ton of $$ on Saturdays and even that Sunday from the game being in town and no matter on what day of the week the game is held, the NFL will get all of the ratings and money from the commercials, sponsors, and anyone & everything who is affiliated with the league. If the sole reason for moving the game to Saturday is to appease the fans who just want to party some more, that's pretty pathetic.
plyngby Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Would love to have it on saturday as well. Sitting in europe game starts at 0030. have to spend a vacation day monday
Malazan Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 If the sole reason for moving the game to Saturday is to appease the fans who just want to party some more, that's pretty pathetic. Yeah, appeasing the fans is the last thing a sports league should do..
judman Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Every SB should be on a Saturday. Yes, Yes, a 1000 times yes.
Astrobot Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Saturday it is!!! That was easy. How about climate change? (Maybe Congress should just be a big chat board)
billsfan89 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 The Super Bowl should be on a Saturday in any weather conditions, its stupid for it to be on a Sunday. And anyone that thinks playing the Super Bowl in cold weather is a bad idea is kind of beyond my logic as I think the best case scenario is if it snows.
NoSaint Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 well, it looks like the nfl experience has been canned for it, and we now have multiple local mayors threatening to withhold services if there are weather issues.
