Delete This Account Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 question Kelsay all you want. yet, he tried to play through the injury before aggravating it. and, he was one of the few -- only? -- defensive players to call out the rest of the unit publicly and on the record to try to shake things up. jw
Matt in KC Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Re: Does Kelsay get cut now? How long is now exactly? I voted yes, but then realised he hadn't been cut and that I had been wrong... so I went to change my vote, re-read the question and thought "well, perhaps he'll be cut *now*." (But then I realised he hadn't been cut and that I was wrong... so I went to change my vote, re-read the question and thought to myself... etc.)
eball Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 According to spotrac cutting Kelsay only results in $800K of dead money, so it stands to reason they could either ask him to restructure or cut bait. A cap hit of nearly $5M seems excessive at this point in CK's career.

A cap hit of nearly $5M seems excessive at this point in CK's career. Kinda, but right now the Bills are about $30million under cap. Is it really necessary to be $33.5million under cap? Is there that much of a difference? Of course, if we need the extra room to sign a FA, then fine. But I dont think we are there yet.
Mr. WEO Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 question Kelsay all you want. yet, he tried to play through the injury before aggravating it. and, he was one of the few -- only? -- defensive players to call out the rest of the unit publicly and on the record to try to shake things up. jw It was emblematic of this team's complete dysfunction when benchwarmers were calling out their team mates in public. Anyway, he gets no points for doing this. Just a little STFU would do. And a pink slip. The Bills just cut 2 players more valuable then Kelsay.
DrDawkinstein Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 All the Bills need to do is announce one more Kelsay extension, and the board will meltdown. And it will be glorious.
NewEra Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 They should cut him. They won't cut him. Sigh. I can't stand you Chris Kelsey. I'm a Nebraska college football fan. I was pissed when we drafted you, I had no idea how long you'd be pissing me off. Begone man!
buffalobillsgrl Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Interesting piece of info! If this is all that is learned here, it was worth the thread. I forgot that Merriman is out of contract, and didnt know about Moore. Lots of work to get done at OBD. That's for sure. i am almost positive that i saw somewhere that the Bills wanted moore back
DrDawkinstein Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 i am almost positive that i saw somewhere that the Bills wanted moore back I dont doubt that they do, and rightfully so!

Those are great attributes. But does his play equal his salary? Can the Bills use that money in better places? Do the Bills need to spend the type of money he will be making on a back up/role player? I do not think Kelsay stinks. Just to be clear on that.
3rdand12 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 i am almost positive that i saw somewhere that the Bills wanted moore back yep. they were quoted saying as much. Maybe Kelsay gets a restructure. Buti neither Wilson nor Barnett got any type of offer we know about. Could be Pettine has already made up his mind about most of his players. and is thinning the Herd. One thing is for sure , these are exciting times and this is not our Fathers Buffalo Bills, folks ! Go Bills!!
San Jose Bills Fan Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Is he on like a MOFO? If so, he's on like a marginally athletic MOFO with bad instincts. But Kelsay will finish his career having made over $50 million for average play so he's also a rich MOFO.
kasper13 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Saves $4.175 million in cap space with only $800,000 in dead money. Should be a no-brainer cut. Would like to see them get about $40 million under. Resign Byrd and Levitre and get a UFA WR (Bowe), couple of LB's and a S.

DrDawkinstein Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 ................................................. Wilson, Barnett, McGee all gone. Kelsay still hanging on. Again, I hope hes on the team until he's in his 70s. Cant wait to see the board reaction when the Bills announce his 30 year/$150mil contract.

Cant wait to see the board reaction when the Bills announce his 30 year/$150mil contract. Or when he gets his name on the Bills Wall of Fame CBF
jumbalaya Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I believe the bloodbath has ended...Jones, Barnett, Wilson...the message has been sent to the remaining players............................for now What message? When you are old or broke down and make too much money you will get released?
benderbender Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Don't understand the rush to cut a back up DE who is a solid all around player. The rush is what he doesn't provide
Zulu Cthulhu Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 For those that still cling to the idea that CK is "solid" or "not a bad player" good for you guys, i guess. I'm certainly not one of them, but we've had this argument innumerable times here already. He's been a starter or main rotational guy on some of the worst defenses this team has ever fielded. In my opinion, he's been a key contributor to those tirefires and has always failed to play with the on-the-field discipline requisite to his position, especially for a veteran of his age and experience. Cutting him now doesn't really help the cap situation that much, true. Honestly I could care less what they do with the guy now, he should've been cut long ago.
