BRAWNDO Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 The Giants released LB Michael Boley today. Has one coverage skills, any interest?
ProbablyWrong Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Is he affordable? Would be an immediate upgrade...
Buftex Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 One coverage skill would be one more than our LB's seem to have now...
Captain Hindsight Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 He's 31 and got benched halfway through the year. The giants are one of those organizations that knows when to cut guys loose it seems. Makes me a little wary
3rdand12 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 He's 31 and got benched halfway through the year. The giants are one of those organizations that knows when to cut guys loose it seems. Makes me a little wary You are missing the point about his coverage skills.
Rob's House Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Eh, If he comes cheap he might be worth bringing in to kick the tires and see if he could be a depth/stop-gap guy, but I wouldn't want to sink money or hopes into him.
Captain Hindsight Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 You are missing the point about his coverage skills. Are they that exceptional? I honestly don't know and with the pass happy league it seems odd the giants would cut him loose if he was such a good coverage guy.
vincec Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Why was he cut? I thought he was really solid last year. Salary cap?
3rdand12 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Well Captain i was referring to this "Has one coverage skills, " and this "One coverage skill would be one more than our LB's seem to have now..." And not least, this " I'd prefer a LB with two coverage skills..." and then this "Is he affordable? Would be an immediate upgrade... " D is the answer, i bet
NoSaint Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Without knowing pettines long term plan... We have no idea if he'd make sense
Stealth Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 He's 31 and got benched halfway through the year. The giants are one of those organizations that knows when to cut guys loose it seems. Makes me a little wary He started 11 games and had a hamstring injury he played in all 16. A healthy boley wouldnt be a bad pickup
Sisyphean Bills Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 You are missing the point about his coverage skills. Fixed.
KollegeStudnet Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Pettine likes veterans... A 31 year old Boley would be a smart pickup
phypon Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I'd prefer a LB with two coverage skills... LOLOL! My first good laugh of the day. That was great, thanks
atlbillsfan1975 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Watched Boley play in Atl. I wanted the Bills to pick him up when the Giants got him. He was a very solid player for Atlanta. 31 does not scare me too much for a LB. As long as he is healthy. having a LB with coverage can only help... "Michael Boley was brought here as a fast, athletic, versatile linebacker," coach Tom Coughlin said. "We recognized his special skills were in coverage. He's a smart player who made some big plays for us. He was an integral part of our Super Bowl XLVI championship team. Michael played outstanding football down the stretch for us that season." Sounds like the kind of guy we need for a year or two to help guys like Bradham develope. The Bills still would need a LB or two in the draft.
hooper Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Bills RUN D was such a disaster that I think bringing in a guy who is not more balanced is not wise.
3rdand12 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Fixed. well here is another testament for the Captain pulled from our own bills fan atlbillsfan1975 Tom Coughlin said. "We recognized his special { skills ] were in coverage. " lol : )
