1billsfan
FWIW, I just think that the music doesn't matter for RnB artists today as much as it did back in the old days and it exposes itself on a large scale when you get a Superbowl halftime show chock full of very forgettable contemporary music. I consider Beyonce an RnB artist and her songs are chicken scratch compared to the "Solid Gold" sounds of The SOS Band and The Gap Band back in the day… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHo7RW0l0yw Edited February 4, 2013 by 1billsfan
Nervous Guy
I watched the puppy bowl at halftime...oddly, it was halftime there as well, they had the kitty halftime...I wasn't impressed by the kittys.
Captain Hindsight
Shes hot, thats what I got out of it. I expected it to be a laser lightshow with lots of the same dance moves from (insert concert name here) . I reheated the pizza and chicken wing dip and grabbed another beer

Alphadawg7
I see people comparing her to Madonna and her rep...how quickly people forget what Madonna was like. Um, she only released a book called "Sex" in which she was fully naked, full frontal and all, through out it in a desperate attempt to cement the Marilyn Monroe comparisons and took it a step further with her blowing dudes and getting railed in it and all the bondage. Madonna was a notch below hard core porn and a notch above Skinimax. Beyonce, in all her hotness, is not those things and would blow her doors off vocally at any point in either careers. And since when are so many old dudes against the policy of "sex sells" lmao And just so people are clear...all you oldies are not supposed to like it or get it...if you did then she would be worth about 10% as much as she is now as she would no longer be cool to the younger generation which spends about 10 times more money per year on music then the baby boomers. Now I have seen it all, I am defending Beyonce and I don't even like her music. I just get why others into her type of music do as shes one of the best there is, if not the best, of that particular genre. Her and Christina Aguliera can sing circles around their competition which is why they are probably the only 2 that don't make me wanna blow my head off when I am out with a girl younger than me that puts that crap on. Hater
The NFL is trying to draw a younger audience, I get that but I'd rather had seen Alica Keys perform at Half Time she a great singer & since the Super Bowl is in NY next year the NFL should have Jay Z to perform half time, he can perform "Empire State Mind" & have Nas join in & do "N.Y. State of Mind" http://youtu.be/0UjsXo9l6I8

John in Jax
Pretty amusing thread. I love the fact that somebody had to throw the racism card into the mix too....how classy (and ignorant)! The bottom line is that taste in music is like taste in pizza, or taste in chicken wings, or taste in movies, or taste in BBQ ribs, etc....100 different people will not have the same view as to who's better or what tastes better or which movie is more entertaining. Some people will even be vehement that "these wings are the best ever" or "Beyonce is awesome and she's the best singer ever", while others will think the latter folks are off their rocker. That's life; different strokes for different folks.

I'd also advise them not inviting the New York guy who took away the Nets. I think they should do something really simple yet really big, like having Led Zeppelin perform the halftime show. Don't even do a bunch of songs, just do "Stairway to Heaven" and that's it.
Rob's House
not sure if sleazy is the right word for her........she has no madonna like tales of sleeping with everyone in the world.....so she shows off some sexy legs when she performs....blah. Listen to some of her songs; she's trash. One of her first hits glorified cheating & whoring around (not that I have a problem with that, but...). She had another about wanting a "soldier" which had nothing to do with soldiers; it was about wanting a thug, which is a great message to send to impressionable adolescents - hot girls like thugs. I believe these are recurring themes for her. The fact that she parades around in every recent video or prime-time performance understaffed for a Maxim spread just tells me she's an exhibitionist who'd probably do a Hustler spread if she wasn't already famous. I don't hate her for it, but according to the cultural mores of our society she is objectively sleazy. I don't really have a good or bad issue with her personally. She's nice to look at.
Nitro
I'm 42 and I swear I could not understand a single word she sang. I honestly think she sang the same 4 lines over and over for 15 minutes. Is this entertainment? I know it isn't music. It is not even muzak. Do people really spend money to see her thrust her groin in concert? Is there a single person on this board that has downloaded one of her CD's to their I-pod? I watched with a room full of people ranging from teens to 50s and while the strutting around and dancing was visiually enjoyable, none of us understood her lyrics and recognized 1 song. The harshest critics of her performance were the women. Go figure. There has tobe a happy medium. No old fogies or young mush mouths. It is difficut to please everyone. Mark Vader
lmao, what is going on in this thread? I get all the old guys who only like classic rock won't get her, but untalented? Are you insane lol? She has an incredible voice and I am not even in to her music. She is smoking hot, an incredible dancer, and can sing a hell of a lot better than most female singers out there. The girl has got it together to say the least. This board seems to hate everything and everyone not associated with the Bills lol That's why it's called Two Bills Drive, not Two Beyonce Drive. KD in CA
The women in the bar I was at were going nuts for her, most of the guys too and it was packed. "going nuts"? Are there usually a lot of 14 year olds at that bar?
Alphadawg7
"going nuts"? Are there usually a lot of 14 year olds at that bar? Mix of college girls from LMU and UCLA and locals in late twenties and 30's. I think you underestimate just how popular Beyonce is and her demographic. She is not Hannah Montana, her fan base reaches a lot more age groups.

Good point. I personally think that Madonna is vile and is easily the most overrated entertainer ever. Let's not forget about Madonna adopting children so she can get good PR. I would not Beyonce into the same category. Listen to some of her songs; she's trash. One of her first hits glorified cheating & whoring around (not that I have a problem with that, but...). I still wouldn't call Beyonce trash, although I don't see her as a national treasure either. Having an entire hospital floor blocked off from other patients so she could have her baby was a very elitist move.
ChasBB
I'd rather watch punt, pass, & kick competition. Whatever the hell happened to that anyhow? That was always fun to watch.
