1billsfan Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Led Zeppelin Have another viagra dude. Seriously, you are old if you think that anyone under 40 has any interest in seeing a bunch of emaciated old drag queens in skinny jeans playing classic rock at the Super Bowl. Alicia Keys and Beyonce are on the OLDER end of the demographic that the NFL is looking for and they are like 30 years younger than those old men. Madonna was highly criticized as too old last year and she is about 15 years younger than the surviving members of LZ. It's a sad fact, but we all get old. When you get old, you stop spending your money frivolously.........and then you end up in Hammer's Lot wearing your Steve Tasker jersey while the people in the demographic the NFL seeks are in the stadium lots on their way back from the Bills store with $300 worth of new Bills gear in a shopping bag. Legendary band, legendary song which I could see working with video footage encapsulating the history of the NFL and the journey and culmination of the 2013 football season. If done right, I think it could be something very inspirational and special that would hit the mark with all ages and demographics. If you want to attract females then you could possibly incorporate Cirque du Soleil into the performance. The band's fallen angel logo does look very much like a silhouette of a Cirque du Soleil performer, right?...LOL If you want to go with a popular contemporary artist, then I'd try to get Adele. Someone with real and rare (for today's standards) artistic talent and who's appeal spans all demographics and continents.
Nitro Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 10 times over? That is a bold statement and I appreciate it. To expand on my point the New Orleans area (NOLA) boasts talent like Lil Wayne, Better than Ezra, the Marsalis brothers, Harry Connick Jr, Buckwheat Zydeco, Dirty Dozen Brass band, Hank Williams Jr, Neville Brothers and Tim McGraw. That is just a sampling of the talent from NOLA area. IMO it would appeal to folks of everystripe. I may not agree with you but I do respect your stance.

Someone with real and rare (for today's standards) artistic talent and who's appeal spans all demographics and continents. I work for Alpha and I model and sing as well. I laughed when he said there was this thread about Beyonce on his silly football chat board. I am 26 years old and my friends and I are all big fans of both her and Adele. Adele is also a huge Beyonce fan, which you can see below, so why you seem to think Adele is some how so much more relevant or better is funny. Beyonce has sold over 75 million records world wide! That ranks her right near the top of any artist all time. And that is just her solo albums and doesnt include Destinys Child which on its own sold over 50 million records world wide. That is a total of 125 million records combined putting her in the top 25 all time which is about 5 times more than Adele who will get there too some day. So your statement is just pretty stupid. Relationship with Adele Adele is a fan of hers, and Knowles is a fan of Adele's, as she has stated Adele was one of her biggest influences while writing and recording 4. Adele was also seen applauding her during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, in which the entire crowd had gone wild after Knowles sang her song "Love On Top" and officially announced her pregnancy to the public, having showed her baby bump after the performance. In 2012, Adele and Knowles both expressed interest in collaborating with one another. Adele has stated that the "highlight" of her life was getting to meet Beyoncé and Jay-Z, stating, "I ran out on the balcony and fell into her security's arms, going, 'She's so nice!' And literally collapsed. Sobbing my heart out, it was like being winded. Highlight of my life, ever. I don't know her but she's a huge part of my life. Everything I refer to has always got something to do with Destiny's Child or her. She just knows what she wants. She's in control of it all. She's classy. She's still totally !@#$ing relevant. And just a nice person." I work for Alpha and I model and sing as well. I laughed when he said there was this thread about Beyonce on his silly football chat board. Watching her scramble to all these sites was hilarious, it was like you spoke bad about her sister or something hahaha
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I work for Sage and I'm a SUPERmodel and I disagree with all of that stuff.

Simon Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 And my streak of never having wasted a minute on an NFL halftime show continues intact.

Mark Vader Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 The fact you are still trying to grasp that she is popular shows your age. She's one the highest grossing artists of the last 10 years and has a huge fan base wide spread. I get you dont like her music, and I am not really into it either, but come on, this is getting a bit ridiculous. It was a packed bar wall to wall. Doesn't matter, go listen to your music and enjoy it, its cool. But just because you don't like it doesnt mean she hasnt sold an insane amount of albums to a wide spread demographic. In fact, her half time performance boosted her sales by 230% and Destiny Childs by 600% from just a half time show. So I guess not everyone was on board the hate train with her this weekend. http://www.billboard...album-sales-230 The fact I have been posting in this thread shows how hung over I am and bored today lol Yikes Alphadawg, take it easy. I think you misunderstand me. I get why Beyonce is popular, I just thought that what you described at the bar sounded funny, and I'm sure you found it amusing as well. I never said her music was terrible nor do I think she is without talent. I just don't see what the big deal is about her, but that's just how I feel. If other people love her, then so be it. Doesn't bother me. Rolling Stones have songs abut drugs and sex, theyre fine. Tom Petty has songs about drugs and sex, he's fine. The Who has songs about drugs and sex, theyre fine. Prince has TONS of songs about drugs and sex, he's fine. (Even played silhouetted against a curtain and made his guitar look like his penis. Celebrated as one of the best halftime performances in the last 20 years) Michael Jackson accused of molesting children, he's fine. But Madonna gets described as "vile" around here, Beyonce is "sleazy", and lets not even get into how badly the country freaked out about Janet Jackson's nipple... I dont think it's much a racial thing, as much as it is par for the boys club here. This thread would have done better if it stuck to our standard "Would ya?" format. I am only responding to this specific line, DrD, because I am the one who said that, and I'll explain why. First of all it has nothing to do with Madonna's music. In the past she has said some very disgusting things about the U.S.A., about the people, the country and former presidents, and I personally find that offensive. Especially when she got her big breaks from this country in the first place. Also, what the hell is it with her fake English accent? Seriously, what is that? She's from Detroit, who is she trying to impress? I think she is a big snob with a superiority complex, and yes I think she is the most overrated entertainer ever. Just my opinion.
bbb Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I dont like it either...but all the damn girls in there loved her, and the dudes loved how hot she was. Girls all pointing at their fingers, even married ones lol Your life must be like a beer commercial.
Hater Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 They can pretend it's New York, but that game is being played in New Jersey...LOL I think it's best if they don't play up the whole "NEW YORK" theme. I'd also advise them not inviting the New York guy who took away the Nets. I think they should do something really simple yet really big, like having Led Zeppelin perform the halftime show. Don't even do a bunch of songs, just do "Stairway to Heaven" and that's it. The NFL are playing it up that its a New York Super Bowl & your right the stadium is New Jersey but the NFL says it the New York Giants & Jets Home so its New York not New Jersey if you want to get technical the Bills are the Only New York Team

The last true great female vocal talent was Amy Winehouse. You didn't hear her sing the kind of garbage Adele is putting out. She was a real artist and sang the right way.
The Poojer Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 i think adele is very talented, but you are right about Amy Winehouse...damn she was something else... Ugh, I can't stand Adele. Gugny Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 i think adele is very talented, but you are right about Amy Winehouse...damn she was something else... Amy Winehouse was a true throwback. An unbelievable talent. A student of real music. Shortly after she passed, Tony Bennett was on Letterman, plugging his then new "Duets" album. He said of all the talent he worked with on that album, Amy Winehouse was the only one who did it right. I just hope there are more lost tapes out there so "new" material can be released in the future.
truth on hold Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) Someone else not happy .... Watching Beyonce's halftime show with kids raised eyebrows, questions Rachel Campos-Duffy TODAY contributor As soon as I saw pelvic thrusts and legs wide open to the camera, I debated internally about whether to change the channel or use it as a teachable moment. I opted for the latter, and prayed I made the right choice. Interestingly, I noticed all the kids had quizzical expressions on their faces as if to say, “What is she doing?” http://t.today.com/moms/watching-beyonces-halftime-show-kids-raised-eyebrows-questions-1B8242498 Edited February 5, 2013 by Joe_the_6_pack
