I know this has been discussed before but they are at it again !!

L.A. is now trying to coax the Falcons to go out west --- STOP ALREADY !!

The state is broke but yet they continue to take on huge projects that the money may not be readily available to build or at least pay for the up keep on for the next 40 years.

So far California Has in Major league sports franchise 18 total & 6 of those are in L.A. 7 if you include them losing the Rams & Raiders.

Baseball - L.A. Angels, L.A. Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, & San Francisco Giants.

NFL - Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, & Had the L.A. Rams

Basketball - Golden State Warriors, L.A. Clippers, L.A. Lakers, Sacramento Kings

NHL - Anaheim Ducks, L.A. Kings, San Jose Sharks

Soccer - L.A. Galaxy,Chivas USA, San Jose Earthquake

NCAA Football - San Jose St. , San Diego St. , UCLA, Fresno St. , Cal, USC, Stanford

Then you have all the NCAA B Ball teams & all these teams mentioned are just the mens major league teams.

In L.A. alone they have 6 Big league teams & they lost the Rams & Raiders, so they proved they haven't been able to keep a NFL team so why don't they just go away ? What would make L.A. any different now if the NFL did come back ?

Kind of ironic also, someone is looking into buying the Sacramento Kings and moving them to Seattle, and the whole California legislature is talking about passing laws to prevent it.

Moving into California --- okay

moving out ---- illegal.

Not to hijack the thread but here's the irony of California Sports:

It's often derided for the fervor of its sports fans. As the criticism goes, there are too many things to do in California for people to feel that passionately about sports.

Compared to the only other place I've lived, Buffalo, I would say this is true. There are suddenly more Niners fans at this moment than there ever were in the previous 10+ years that we've lived here.

On the other hand, California is a factory of athletes. I recently completed a job at the Serra High School athletic complex in San Mateo. This is the school which produced Barry Bonds, Tom Brady, Lynn Swann and many other elite athletes.

Nearly 25% of the 2012 US Summer Olympic Team is from California.

More than 13% of MLB players are from California.

More than 11% of NFL players are from California.

More than 12% of NBA players are from California and the state has more NBA players than any other state with 44 followed by Illinois with 33. New York has 25 NBA players. This is a particularly high number considering the number of foreign players.

California in spite of being a warm weather state has the 8th most NHL players and that percentage is growing.

Part of this of course is due to population as California is the most populous U.S. state with 12% of the U.S. population.

But California dominates in other sports like track and field, swimming, golf, tennis, etc. and is generally overrepresented in all sports relative to its population.

This isnt about the state, its about Los Angeles, one of the largest markets in the country. And as far as the state goes, its one of the 2 most important states in the country on many levels. And it also is a huge state and some of the largest cities it he country are here.

Kings are moving to Seattle by the way. The distance from Los Angeles to Northern California is as much as 2 states away in some parts of this country, so its not like all these teams sit on top of each other, they are all spaced out. Nor Cal and So Cal are very different too in every way, almost like 2 different states.

New York has a ton too, including 3 football teams of its own and its tiny in comparison to CA in terms of geography. I don't see you starting any threads about New York having too many teams.

Man oh man, where to begin? First off, why do you even care about this? You seem so incensed. You start by saying a city (LA) is trying to lure a team, then you jump to the amount of teams in the state to bolster your argument. So by your illogical logic, because New York City has a bunch of sports teams, why should Buffalo bother with having any?

And as far as I know, the only ones involved in bringing an NFL team to LA are private businessmen. So are you suggesting that private enterprise should somehow be banned from trying to make money because California has more than its "fair share" of sports? Or that the NFL shouldn't want to put a team in the second largest market in the country because there are already teams in the state. If you want to blow off steam on unnecessary expansion, I'd suggest going after Starbucks and Subway, which seem to have a store on every other corner.

As to the supposed fickleness of Cali sports fans, I would point out that the Dodgers, who haven't been to the World Series since 1988, and have generally been more mediocre than good for those 25 years still have often led the majors in attendance during that time, while averaging 3 million or more consistently. Sure, attendance for all the teams in the state rise when they're having the great years. But how is that different from any other place? Don't the Bills sell more season tickets and draw more "fair weather fans" when the team is on a roll?

And finally, I highlighted one of the great falsehoods that has somehow come to be accepted as the truth, that LA "lost" two NFL teams. In fact, the Rams regularly drew 80, 90, 100,000 when they played in the Colisseum which was better than any other team in the NFL for many, many years. The sole reason for moving first to Anaheim then to St. Louis was the refusal of LA to bribe them to stay in town, and then Anaheim's refusal to match the crazy deal St. Louis paid. So it wasn't for lack of fan support that they moved; it was all about the dough. As to the Raiders, they were fantastically well-received and supported in LA (and still are, for the record) until Al Davis started his extortions which, once again, the city refused to pay. When Davis had squeezed all he could out of this or that city in Southern Cal, he cut a deal with Alameda County and took off. In neither case was there a lack of fan support. And in fact, the Raiders haven't drawn nearly as well since moving back to Oakland though the taxpayer subsidies apparently make up for that.
