Looks like Rob the slob Ryan is out and Dick the Corpse Jauron is in...

Really not sure how this guy keeps getting work. The myth that he is a great DC is just not true. Although I don't like Donte Whitner, his comments about Jauron's Tampa 2 are spot on. It just proves that the NFL is a good ole boys club. You mean to tell me there isn't some up and coming coach at the, high school, or college ranks (even division 2) who couldn't come in and do a better job than Dick? It's really ridiculous that this guy can keep getting work, despite not being good at his job. He's been with the Bears, the Lions, the Eagles, the Bills, the Browns, and soon to be the Rams. Who wants to guess where he'll coach next?

Even Gailey badly outcoached Jauron this past year, but hey... hire the guy! by all means!

The Browns defense was pretty good and a lot of people wanted him kept on in Cleveland

The hatred for this man in Buffalo is incredible. He got 7 wins a year his first three years here. He drafted Byrd, signed everyone's beloved hero Fitzpatrick, drafted Stevie, Wood, Levitre, McKelvin. Turned Wilson into a safety.

People act like Dick Jauron is the worst coach in the history of any sport on any planet or something, yet he was more successful than Gailey who people seem to feel all warm and fuzzy for because he said he wanted to be here.

It's that easy: "I want to be in Buffalo. I'll choose you guys!" Say that and you're beloved, regardless of the results. Well, Jauron wanted you guys too, won MORE games for you than your man Chan Gailey, and drafted some good players for the team. But he didn't make a big show of what a big heart he ha`d for coming to coach the Bills, so you all hate him.

When it comes to Maybin, Jauron had 100% draft power and authority. But for any player who turned out in any way good at all (Wood, Byrd, Levitre, Stevie, McKelvin) is was Modrak or Levy or Brandon or even Ralph himself making those picks.

According to most Bills fans, Jauron must get no credit and must be villified and attacked at every turn.

His crime? Not being emotional enough and not telling them how much he loved them apparently, because Chan is still beloved here.

Jauron won more games than Gailey in three years here, and that's with Gailey's legendary offense and a "franchise QB"

The 2nd bolded has nothing to do with wanting Jauron gone--- he was respected as a man and a coach for everything in the 1st bolded section, but he was entirely too passive. Coaching not to lose may have been his only option considering the talent on the team, and perhaps that will be his longterm legacy.

I was no fan of him, but the level of hatred for the man among most Bills fans in incredible to me. We've seen far worse before and after him at HC. He is a very good defensive coordinator, just not a great head man.

Maybe if he blubbered a little and told Bills fans that he loved them things would be different.

I think, other than Hank Bullogh and possibly Kay Stephonson, Dick Jauron was the worst Bills coach in my Bills life....go back to 1972. He may be a fine DC, but he was a terrible head coach. And, beyond all else, his Bills teams were possibly the dullest teams we have ever seen in Buffalo. I don't hate the guy, but I can't overstate what an awful head coach he was...Chan Gailey was a breath of fresh air.

Geez, I kind of think it's ridiculous to beat this drum. I would guess the overwhelming feeling about Jauron is... apathy. I mean, who gives a ****? Jauron and Gailey were/are both good men and competent coordinators but their tenures in Buffalo were equally mediocre and largely forgettable.

Gailey beat New England. Period. He earned a lot of capital with that win. That's his only edge, and it was probably a fluke.

In the end, Gailey receives as much crap as Jauron as they both should--- but "most Bills fans" don't hate them. We're just happy to move on from the abyss of NFL Head Coaching mediocrity.

a breath of fresh air.?

Do Bills fans just need a hug or something? If Jauron would just cry and say he misses it here would it be different?

Jauron won 5 more games than Gailey (which is almost an entire season of wins for Chan the guru) yet he is clearly a worse coach?

This is true, Chan was aggressive the first 2 years and he had a personality. It's hard to get hot and bothered about either, but I'd rather have Chan as my OC than Jauron as DC--- but really, I'd rather have neither.

Didn't you know he was a 3 sport letterman in high school and was named one of Massachussetts' Top 10 high school athletes of all time?

We're just having a little sport at Jauron's expense.

Why do you have to spoil our fun?

Oh, that's right. You're the Fun Police.

Never mind officer.

Just stop. No one is saying this except you.

+1

Jauron took a bunch of crap and turned it into 7 wins. Frankly, the guy was a miracle worker.

He's always had solid defenses as a DC.

Well yeah I agree, they both stunk. But people seem to love Gailey and hate Jauron when Jauron was clearly more successful here (unless you don't count winning as success and instead use how warm and fuzzy the coach made you feel).

It's fine, carry on, but be safe out there. Only you can prevent forest fires.

Why do you keep repeating this meme? It is not a "thing" amongst Bills fans. The "Happy Birthday Chan" thread from a few weeks ago was filled with sarcastic slams on him.

Gailey is not beloved. Jauron is not hated. They are viewed in an identical light: mediocre.

Unlike Rob, Jauron really won't be out of work for more than 5 minutes!

And he loves you, Bills fans! He was really happy to be here. He CHOSE Buffalo! He wanted you! Players love him, but he has the personality of a tree stump in the media.

Now wish him well and be all nice and smiley! :)

Wow, we had two consecutive bad head coaches, and you are mincing a few extra wins (unless I am mistaken, DJ was here 10 games longer than Gailey) to prove he was better? They both sucked, ultimately...but Gailey's teams were, at least, mildly entertaining....the Dick Jauron philosophy of playing not to lose does not make for scintillating football. Not sure why you adore DJ so much...and I wasn't really saying Gailey was great, just pointing out how awful the Jauron era was. DJ sucked all the entertainment value out of NFL football... it may be true that Jauron is a better DC, than Gailey is an OC, but that is as far as I will go. Jauron could cry all he wants, and kiss Buffalo's butt all he wants...but that wouldn't change my opinion that he was a terrible head coach. I am only using his time in Buffalo (he was a DB coach for one of the Bills 2-14 teams back in the 80's) as my measuring stick... bad football.
