It took those three other slow goofs how many years to get this far? And two of them have gone backwards. Meanwhile the sky is the limit for RG3, Kapernick and Wilson.

Anyway, Johnny Football has the best of both worlds so what's not to like. Damn the torpedoes.

That sounds an awful lot like restraint of trade and I'm sure the US Department of Justice would not look too kindly on it.

The league has changed. Name a pocket QB drafted in the past 5 years that has done anything. Don't try because you can't. Your choices are Skelton, Sanchez and crack head Frankenstein. They are all worthless.

Yes after 92 years the league is changing

We only need to stink for one year. He is eligible for the 2014 Draft.

I have no problem with the Bills showing us flashes of brilliance this year and then allowing the opposing team to win in the final minutes of play. I would gladly sacrifice one bad year of football to acquire Manziel. How much worse off would we be if we had the first pick vs. the 8th?? It will never happen, but a guy can dream.

Well it hasn't been a problem for well over a decade (Stinking), so I'd say the law of averages are we will win 8 or fewer games once again. I have hope for the new coaching staff and Russ Brandon holding the reigns, but until I see an organizational culture change I guess I'll remain somewhat pessimistic. Just look at how most of us felt going into 2012....David Lee working with fitzpatrick on his footwork like never before, and with a year of being the starter under his belt high aspirations, then we were all estatic about Mario WIlliam signing and thinking that we'd be seeing Bruce Smith like dominance arrive on defense, and then to compliment Mario, we felt like we were getting a double digit sack specialist in Mark Anderson. How wrong we were, and despie Mario getting double digit sacks, how little impact he really had...So despite the coaching changes and all the bells and whistles of change at OBD, I will try not to get sucked into the excitement of the upcoming season unless we totally restock the QB position after purging curly, larry, and moe. I also need to see us pickup or draft 2 WR's, same said for LB's, and at least one CB as well. We have other needs, but these are of the most dire nature! So if you ask me, we are more likely to draft slots #1-5 then we are #28-32 in the 2014 NFL Draft !!!

Agreed...

The Bills don't have a QB...More importantly they don't have a QB capable of moving the team to quick scores late in games...Something that is an absolute must if you want to win consistently in today's NFL...No matter how good the new Coaching staff is, I would be quite surprised if The Bills managed to win more than 6 games in 2013... B-)

I think you're being sarcastic but in case not here's a newsflash:

Kaepernick outscored Flacco. Without the 2nd half kickoff return the 49ers won.

Flacco played great and there is no denying it. It actually helps state my case here. It takes 5 years to develop a guy from being a talented pocket passer with a strong arm into adding the fine points it takes to be a Super Bowl QB. This also happened with both Mannings. In Flacco's case, despite his good game, his team needed extra help.

Meanwhile if CK, Wilson and RG3 had not been in each others way, any of them could have won it. Why? Because their style of play gives them options Flacco just can't ever have. And Flacco isn't even the slowest of the slow by any stretch.

Anyway even if you want a pocket passer Manziel can deliver. It would be a bad idea but even as a pure pocket guy he would be the best choice out there.

Restraint of trade uses the word "trade" as a cinnamon for "commerce". With the AG being a Columbia grad and the Bills being the only team to draft a Columbia grad in decades, I think I know where he'd stand on this.

Kapernick, RG3 and Wilson were all drafted in one year and you come up with 3 QBs over the span of 5 or more years. See a trend? Plus the fact that none of them have won anything anyway.

ya know, the wild cat worked for like two, three years in the legue. Than people figured it out. I like the option attack teams are using now, but I'm still going to take a wait and see approach.

I like RGIII as much as the next guy, but Luck has the rules of the NFL built protect him. We've seen what happened to RGIII. The Frisco Kid has played smart, but its still Russian roulette. Wilson I think is asked to run less ( unless you run man coverage and don't blitz ). As a whole, pocket passers will always be a hot commodity. Mobility is a plus, but an Aaron Rodgers, or even like Jeff Garcia is more than enough for me.

I'd prefer Teddy Bridgewater over Manziel.

I don't know who he is but if he is mobile then I would be ok with it. Slow goofs like Luck and Flacco will get their wins; maybe even Super Bowl wins, but they take YEARS to develop due to fewer options being open from a relatively stationary QB. The mobile guys create more chances to win and they do so more immediately as I pointed out in my reply to Transient.

What good are mobile qbs if they get hurt every other game....see RG3...Vick. You can't say Kaepernick didn't get hurt.....he only played half the season.

Russell Wilson?

Tim Tebow?

oh wait.......er, whatever, hell, tebow doesn't get injured.

Really though, the only running qbs that get injured are the ones that make stupid decisions. RGIII is ok, because he is young and will make better decisions. Vick has been making bad choices his whole career, taking hits when he should be running out of bounds, sliding, or getting down or something.

Heard Johnny football nearly found trouble Saturday night - word is there was some pushing and shoving outside the chart room in the quarter and he and his friends were at the center (with him trying to de-escalate the situation).

Also heard he made it to some events that should've been above his pay grade.

Don't know either to be 100% true but I do know he was in town and A&M would be wise to keep him on a short leash given his past. Neither are terrible offenses morally but the attention and distraction and potential NCAA issues.... No fun.

What is his past? I was unaware. This may change my opinion of whether we should take him at #8.

The drunk fight in the street followed by giving the cop his fake ID to try and skate on it but ended up getting arrested

and rumors of sealed records on HS incidents with police (those may be true, may be dirty recruiting tactics)

Seemingly poor judgement stuff, not morally bankrupt things really
