Roger Goodell Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I trust Coach Williams has learned from his mistakes and will resume his place as an upstanding member of the NFL community.
Marv's Neighbor Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 "It was a terrible mistake. And we knew it was wrong while we were doing it." This is a quote from Greggo. An honest, contrite confession? Or the appearance of one in a quid pro quo with Goddell? It's a poor attempt at rationalization! Remember we hired him because "he interviewed well." A consumate BS'er any way you look at it!
Mr. WEO Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Guys a great defensive coach. He'll redeem himself. Funniest post of the day.
JohnC Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 (edited) Funniest post of the day. I'm not a Gregg Williams fan by any means. His least appealing trait is his fraudulent tough guy act. It's a tiresome act. Without a doubt he paid a stiff penalty for his foolishness, a well deserved penalty. He accepted his responsibiltyfor his behavior and accepted his punishment. He was also publicly humiliated. There is no doubt that he has been humbled. But now, if an organization is willing to hire him, it is time for him to be allowed to go back to work. Gregg Williams might be a jerk but that doesn't mean that it is right for him to be expelled from working in his profession. Edited January 28, 2013 by JohnC
San Jose Bills Fan Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Guys a great defensive coach. He'll redeem himself. It's possible that he could redeem himself as a coach. As a person, Greg(g)'s irredeemable IMO.
Nanker Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 It's possible that he could redeem himself as a coach. As a person, Greg(g)'s irredeemable IMO. He'd have to open a puppy farm with Ron Mexico in order to do that.
habes1280 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 So "indefinite" means 1 year? Why didn't the NFL just say so when they handed out the punishment in the first place? Were they concerned that a 1 year suspension wouldn't sound severe enough so they called it "indefinite" and then lifted it in one year? I think that the NFL was more concerned with appearing tough than being tough on this. Player suspensions- reduced/overturned. Where any games even missed? Peyton punishment- 1 year, then signs massive contract extension to make up for any lost revenue. Williams punishment- "indefinite suspension", terminated at 1 year and then immediately signs with another team. Really cracked down hard on this. And as an Assistant Head Coach. A promotion, no less.
