Thanks for telling us what the Bills are going to do. Your knowledge is superior to that of nix/Whaley and Marrone...who at this point, likely aren't sure what they're going to do. It comes down to one thing. He sucks. He should be cut, cap help or not. Paying a guy 10Mill plus to be the backup of start and suck is ludicrous. Save Ralph 10 mill and put that money into a guaranteed contract in the future. He's a bum. If Marrone doesn't want him on the team, my guess is he's cut or restructured.

Thanks for acknowleding my superiority. Whether Fitz sucks or not is irrelevant. It s not that I know better than the Bills brass... it's that I know exactly what they're gonna do. And they aint gonna let Fitz go in early March. And, Marrone doesn't want Fitz around? Really? Well, WTF are his options for this up coming season? Apparently, you can't seem to figure it out that The Bills cap hit is the same whether they cut Fitz or not. Apparently you must be either OK if the Bills don't resign Levitre & Byrd or never even considered it. Like the Bills are going to have cap space to sign those two, others, draft pix, plus some fairy tale FA QB that you've imagined.

I'd imagine much like he has in buffalo, cincy, and St. Louis - consistently inconsistent having to make throws that aren't good odds with his arm.

with no wideouts, and a terrible defense to help.....please child

Fritz and the play calling made the OL look better and worse - better because he took less sacks than most other QBs would have taken behind them and worse because the production was not good and it reflects on the line as well.

Mel Kiper recently called Cordy Glenn a bottom-7 LT in the league, which is harsh, but he had quite an up-and-down season.

Regarding "Insider" column by Kiper he is just trying to just poor evaluation of Glenn before\. He was fooled, he got egg on his face and he is still pointing to his King's robe when everyone saw he was wearing no clothes.

If Maronne does not want Fitz, and I have no idea if that is true or not...But for the sake of this argument...IF...It's not going to matter what his options are for this coming season...He'll view them as a step forward...Fitz's fate in Buffalo will depend on Maronne and Hackett...But I don't think it's a slam dunk whatsoever...There have been no votes of confidence for Fitz whatsoever by the two new guys...Hackett commented already that it's completely up in the air right now...When asked about Fitz Hackett said:

“I think right now I have to continue to evaluate. I have to see what everything is across the board. Watching him, watching all the other quarterbacks out there, watching all the draft guys, that’s really what I’m doing right now. I’m trying to look and get the best evaluation on everybody.”

It's WAY up in the air right now...But I have a feeling they will be aggressive in trying to do better than Fitz...And it's JMO, but I think Maronne and Hackett believe they can do exactly that... B-)

Where did I say Marrone doesn't want fritz around? Do you read or do you just prefer to put words in people's mouths? I said IF Marrone doesn't like him, he'll either cut him or restructure him. Apparently I know the bills cap hit is the same, as I said "cap help OR NOT" (even though they do save around 1/2 a mill in cap). Currently, we're approximately 20 mill under. Then factor in possible cuts we can manuever to around 25-35 mill under the cap (cutting fritz .5 mill, Kelsey 4.1mill, McGee 2.1mill, B. Smith 2.75 mill, Barnett 3.5mill, Wilson 3.3mill, troupe .5mill). Last I saw, signing Levitre and Byrd won't cost nearly that much. So yeah, I considered it. And they have room to sign fairy tale Campbell, Moore or Alex smith when he's cut plus our draft picks. Or we can pay a noodle arm QB that throws his final pass of a possible game winning drive to the opposition 10 million dollars because we only gain 1/2 a million in cap space if we cut him and save Ralph 10mill that he could use as a signing bonus to sign a player that will actually help our team, as opposed to making us worse. Not sure why I rebutted, you're comprehension skills are as weak as fritzs arm.

In summary. We have cap room. We will likely cut some of our bums and create more cap room. Fritz sucks. You're comprehension is as weak as fritzs arm.

Keeping terrible players on the team is a bad idea. Especially at QB. It doesn't matter if we currently don't have a QB on the roster. We'll draft 1 or 2 and we have cap room to sign 1 (as well as Levitre and Byrd). Oh yeah....fritz sucks.

If this is indeed true, then I won't listen to another evaluation courtesy of Mel Kiper. Cordy Glenn was credited with no sacks and one QB hurry prior to his injury. ONE! As the year wore on, he did take a step back, but he played admirably for a rookie. In no way, shape, or form a bottom 7 LT in the league.

If you go through the list of starting LTs it can certainly be argued that Glenn is in the bottom 7. Keep in mind that LT is the most important position on the line, so many first round picks have been used on the position. Now given time, I think Glenn could develop into an average LT and a very good overall lineman, but right now there are a lot of LTs who are better.

It aint a question of what offense you put Fitz in. It comes down to two things... supporting cast and a defense. The Bills defense continually and repeatedly put the offense in huge holes, which took the offense out of their game plan and allowed defenses to pin there ears back. Clearly the Bills had only one receiver, a TE that has no ability to stretch the defense, problems at both tackles all season, little depth at the skill positions, and a coach, for whatever reason, that underutilized his most potent offensive weapon (CJ).

PS... The Bills are not going to release Fitz. There is no cap advantage and there is no FA out there that is a significant upgrade over Fitz. Not only that, if they got one, they'd have to overpay him. That's throwing away good money after bad money. Media and bloggers that suggest Fitz is getting cut are only looking at it purely from a $$$ perspective and nothing else... least of which is that if they cut Fitz, they have no QBs on their roster. That's unprecedented. No team has ever entered the offseason with no QBs on their roster. That alone is a clear signal that media and bloggers have their heads up their asses when it comes to Fitz and the Bills.

This is how I see it too. Fitz has payed well when he has protection and receivers to throw to. You take those away and he is hung out to dry. He is not going anywhere. Having someone compete for his job though is not a bad thing. The guy can manage a game if he is given a few tools to work with. Losing Fred, Scott Chandler, Wood, Cordy and multiple receivers is not easy. I'll grant that he is not a top 5% QB in this league, but he is long way the from bottom 5%.

I have seen the same boneheaded plays as everyone else but I just don't see a QB, alone fixing this team. When the defense is in the bottom 5% in multiple categories, a lot of pressure goes directly on the QB. There are ways to win without having a Tom Brady. I see a bunch of fans watching the Pats dominate with poor defense and then jealousy sets in because the Bills don't have their own Tom Brady. Get over it. This team isn't going to get where it needs to be in the same way as the Patriots. This is the Buffalo Bills. Our team has pumped a bunch of money into defense and I'm glad about that. This team has a couple of dynamic running threats and I'm glad about that. We have a QB who while he is no Tom Brady, he is smart, gritty and doesn't complain about his circumstances. And I'm glad about that too.

If you want this team to improve, you find your weaknesses and go from there. The last thing you want to do is find a scapegoat to blame it all on. I'm pretty sure I'll hear it from all of the people blathering on about the need for a "franchise QB". Everyone wants an easy fix, but when that ain't happening, you have to roll up your sleeves and find another way.

i hate to get sucked in but when has fitz "played well" ? his whole body of work has been putrid. post lockout when every qb in the league went bananas for a few weeks he had a few good games vs poor defenses. ever since then and "the rib" its been all crap. we gave him the quick extension contract foolishly just like jauron.

fitz = losing everybody knows dat.

I'm actually starting to think fitz might be the best idea. Have him start all year and get a top 5 pick. He continues to regress, so maybe we can even get the #1 pick. Then get our pick of QBs next year. The available QBs aren't much better than fitz anyway. Fitz always seems to be in the right place at the right time here in buffalo. Unfortunately for us. Fortunately for some of us in I suppose

Fitz will be pretty fine as a backup/ spot starter anywhere he goes. That's what he was brought in here to do in the 1st place. But Gailey got the absolute most out of him, like Fairchild got the most out of Losman. Unfortunately, Gailey hitched his entire wagon to Fitz and the ship went down.

Fitz is the perfect QB for a team that needs a QB who will play hard, prepare hard, and give young guys a chance to make plays. Hes not shy about throwing the football in tight spots. He's limited in what you can do offensively, but teams could do alot worse in teams of stop gap QBs.

If Fitz isn't here next year, I wish him the best and I always appreciated his non stop effort on the field.

The above article mentions the possibility of Fitzpatrick, if released, playing for the Cardinals. As someone who has had moderate success (to be generous) in a spread offense, the writer asks the question: How would Fitzpatrick do in Bruce Arian's offense?

If Fitzpatrick is released this off-season, which at this stage seems to have 50/50 probability, it would be interesting to see how he plays on another team; Arizona, Jacksonville, and Minnesota are a few teams I can see picking him up. If he succeeds on Arizona with Fitzgerald, that may be an indictment of Nix's drafting and the overall offensive talent. Mel Kiper recently called Cordy Glenn a bottom-7 LT in the league, which is harsh, but he had quite an up-and-down season. If we release Fitzpatrick and decide that a drafted QB is a worthwhile prospect, I'm very interested to see where his career goes.

A good many "draft gurus" are invested in downgrading Cordy Glenn, because most (if not all) emphatically stated Glenn was not suited to be an NFL left tackle prior to the draft last year.

To suggest Glenn was a "bottom-7" LT is an insult to anyone who watches pro football. Depending upon which resource you follow, the Bills' OL as a whole ranked anywhere from #8 to #15 in the league. If an OL has a bottom feeder at LT, there's no way they're going to achieve that sort of overall ranking.

Kiper is trying to justify his Draft day analysis that the Bills should have taken Martin from Stanford and the Dolphins should have then take Glenn. Doesn't want to say he was wrong (Who does ?). But if Levitre does leave then a an Eric Fisher could be drafted and Glenn moved to LG and that could be a killer left side.

I think Fitz is kind of like Jake Delhomme. If you build a great roster around him you can win some games. I feel that if you trade Fitz for Aaron Rodgers, the bills would have been as good as the Packers were this year and the Packers would have been as bad as the bills were this year. So in summary, getting a good QB is the best way to fix the bills problems.

Yes, he's a backup basically. Just not in Buffalo.
