l< j Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Saw this on Buffalo Rumblings. It's pretty cool, as are the other photos in the gallery: http://espn.go.com/espn/photos/gallery/_/id/8870055/image/3/stevie-johnson-bills-receiver-crazy-just-work
DrDawkinstein Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Pretty cool, but part of me doesnt like him giving away his secrets
BillsFanForever19 Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Yeah, that was my feeling too! Why would you put exactly what you do, muscle movement by muscle movement, for everyone to see? You just gave away the secret of your game; down to your thought process while you do it.

A) it's only one of many moves B) every bit of it is on tape 100 times that DBs do actually watch C) "I move one way to make him think I'm going that way" couldn't be less of a secret Edited January 26, 2013 by NoSaint
l< j Posted January 26, 2013 Author Posted January 26, 2013 Would have liked to see the same photo sequence on Brady's slide kick.
Mark Vader Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 He gave away nothing. A) it's only one of many moves B) every bit if it is on tape 100 times that DBs do actuallywatch C) "I move one way to make him think I'm going that way" couldn't be less of a secret Exactly. This is what I like about Stevie's game the most. He's definitely not the fastest WR in the game, but he's one of the best in getting separation from a defender.
NoSaint Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Exactly. This is what I like about Stevie's game the most. Yup - what's special in this isn't any given muscle movement in this move, it's how the various moves play off each other, how he reads the defender and how he sequences them play to play. That's all him in the moment. Every defender has seen his "step inside and release out" on film. This move isn't a secret, so he didnt give anything away.
Maury Ballstein Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Stevie's deadly in short yardage situations.....flawless footwork....bring on the next accurate qb and Stevie's gonna be fantasy football gold
Captain Hindsight Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Pretty cool, but part of me doesnt like him giving away his secrets Film already shows what he does. All recievers do something like this
sodbuster Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Exactly. This is what I like about Stevie's game the most. He's definitely not the fastest WR in the game, but he's one of the best in getting separation from a defender. he is one of very few receivers I have seen that can beat the defender in the first three yards off the ball. amazing instincts.
Meathead Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 he does that straight leg move all the time. so does spiller. its no secret, ive even heard the announcers comment on it. its really their god given talent that makes those moves work much more than any secret technique
jimmy10 Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Cool pic. I wish we actually had five Stevies.
Dorkington Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 There is no secret. Anyone who's ever played basketball knows exactly what he's talking about. It's one of my favorite things about the way he runs. (I've played basketball for about 25 years, its my favorite sport)
Hapless Bills Fan Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Pretty cool, but part of me doesnt like him giving away his secrets I don't think there's anyone left in the league who doesn't know exactly what Stevie is going to do. The DBs have several years of film to watch on him, frame by frame. Knowing what he's gonna do is one thing. Stopping it is another
DrDawkinstein Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Indeed, it's no big deal at all, I just like flying under the radar until theyre in the spotlight for being on the big stage.
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Indeed, it's no big deal at all, I just like flying under the radar until theyre in the spotlight for being on the big stage. Given the depth and specificity of modern game film, is there any space under the radar anymore?
jimmy10 Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Given the depth and specificity of modern game film, is there any space under the radar anymore? WTF is "film"?
