MattyT Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Huh. So Mike Mussina, Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright and Tanyon-frickin-Sturtze. <singing> Which one of these things is not like the other? Which of these things does not belong? </singing>
erynthered Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 http://www.thebrushback.com/randyjohnson_full.htm 195725 I hope you have to sit there for 6 more hours
stevestojan Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 This move is going to do nothing but get Derek Jeter laid even more than before. I mean, before, girls thought he was good looking. Now, stand him next to Randy Johnson,... holy crap... He'll get laid by comparison.... good for him.

erynthered Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 So what is the Yankees Payroll now? 195751 About the same amount it would take to buy Canada.
stevestojan Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 So what is the Yankees Payroll now? 195751 right around 210 i believe.
BF_in_Indiana Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 http://www.thebrushback.com/randyjohnson_full.htm 195725 Truer words have never been printed.
HopsGuy Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/arti...son_reach_deal/ 195719 I thought you were a Devil Rays fan? When did you live in NYC?
BF_in_Indiana Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 right around 210 i believe. 195759 That sounds about right. Would someone PLEASE fix the economics of baseball?
stevestojan Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 That sounds about right. Would someone PLEASE fix the economics of baseball? 195765 Chew on this: The luxery tax that Steinbrenner will have to pay for this season will be more than the payroll of the Brewers or Devil Rays.
erynthered Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 I thought you were a Devil Rays fan? When did you live in NYC? 195763 I go and see the Devil Rays play, when they play the Yankees. I've been a Yanks fan since about 1963. Wizzze azz
BF_in_Indiana Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Chew on this: The luxery tax that Steinbrenner will have to pay for this season will be more than the payroll of the Brewers or Devil Rays. 195769 Ridiculous. The Red Sox aren't far behind, maybe they can go after Beltran? He wants 20 million a year.
wwovince Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Red Sox are far enough begind. 20M or more behind. They also have to spend just to compete with them. Im a red sox fan and would support a Salary Cap!!

Im a red sox fan and would support a Salary Cap!! 195798 I'm a Yankee fan and would support a salary cap too. I'm confident that players would still want to be Yankees based of prestige, tradition and the history of the New York Yankees. Like it or not we are the most storied franchise in baseball history with or without a 200+ million dollar payroll.

You can only afford so many superstars. Right now you are allowed to go out and sign whoever you want for however much you want.
stevestojan Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I'm confident that players would still want to be Yankees based of prestige, tradition and the history of the New York Yankees. 195804 Picture this: Salary cap is set at $90 Million. "Randy Johnson, we want you to be a Yankee, we are your best cahnce at a World Series. We can only pay your $2 Million a year though" "Randy, Detroit Tigers here. We have about $11 million to spend. Forget our outfield - we want YOU." Pretty sure old Randy would turn Orange and Blue in about two seconds.
