CodeMonkey Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 So allow me to summarize ... Some think he is the best hire, some think he is the worst hire, and some think he will probably do "OK". Makes sense I guess as no one has any !@#$ing idea how Marrone or Kelly will do in the NFL. Geez I got that much information reading posts here for Gods sake.
HeHateMe Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Seriously what the hell is he basing this grades off of? This article should have been dumped in the trash.
buffaloboyinATL Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 TBD: the place where we can bash every decision, move, or even thought the Bills have - but anyone else says something negative and they're dog****. Love it. I don't like your opinion.
boyst Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 TBD: the place where we can bash every decision, move, or even thought the Bills have - but anyone else says something negative and they're dog****. Love it. look, Fitz is not the answer. Clearly you disagree with popular opinion about him, which is he sucks. Just because you want some newspaper guy to praise this team doesn't mean you're right. Get out of here with that stojan... Or... He is right, the bills clearly didn't do anything right. They all must go. Ralph is cheap. Sullivan tells it like it is. This stojan just got serious....
zow2 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 My initial gut reaction when i woke up that morning and heard the news was "hate it". Then over the next 3 days, as i researched Marrone and the hire i flip flopped and really liked the hire. Now over the past week or so...seeing some of his staff, I'm backing off a bit. I've settled somewhere in the "cautiously optimistic" range.
Captain Hindsight Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 So in conclusion, I didnt hear of him before this process so he must suck. Got it
Lurker Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 TBD: the place where we can bash every decision, move, or even thought the Bills have - but anyone else says something negative and they're dog****. Love it. Thankfully, no one here has a national platform to embarass themselves from...
Wayne Cubed Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Someone on the article's comment section Chris Burke's coaching hire grades from last year: It's makes an interesting article but it's a little silly to assign grade levels on coach hires. As an example, Chris Burke's grades for last year hires: Romeo Crennel A-; Joe Philbin B; Jeff Fisher B; Chuck Pagano B-; Mike Mularkey C; Dennis Allen C-; Greg Schiano D. This guy is just throwing darts blindly. This. /thread
mrags Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 All you need to know. this made me spit up my Beef onWeck
Just in Atlanta Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 The fact he said Marone must fix Fitz makes this analysis moot IMO. The only fixing of Fitz that might be happening--and that's probably less than 50-50--is teaching him how to hold the clipboard properly. I personally see Chip Kelly either tearing it up, or getting blown up. Funny how this guy generates extremes of opinion on both ends. As an analyst with SI, especially one with as little experience as this reporter, I'd temper my grade of a guy whose never even stepped foot in an NFL lockerroom.
VanCity Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Oddly enough, i recently rated Chris Burke as the worst of all NFL writers...... Marrone was a good choice, and maybe even the best choice. People can have opinions, but facts are another thing altogether. I like McCoy as a solid choice and that's pretty much the only one that i could see being better suited for the team that they went to.
zow2 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Chip Kelly said it best during his Bowl week. He said head coach is overrated. Get any head coach really good players and the coach will look good. That applies to the NFL.
VanCity Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 All you need to know. I just laughed way too hard at work. Nice find!
Never NEVER Give-up Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 NFL newbie grading on the "I've heard of him" scale. If we hired John Madden, we would get an A+. I would LOVE it if they hired Madden!!!! (sarcasm)
Mr. WEO Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Who the Hell is Chris Burke ? has he every been an NFL Executive, has he ever coached, NO he is an Idiot report who doesn't report the news but make their own & CNN/SI, WOW real great sports department How can you grade a Coaches who haven't coached a game with their new teams, its not like players in the Draft who play in the Senior Bowl, do The Combine & private workouts Yeah--someone should go down to the Sports Department at Sports Illustrated and see what the heck is going on down there.
Buftex Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I would LOVE it if they hired Madden!!!! (sarcasm) As long as he brings the "spin move" and "speed burst" with him, I am all in!
PS 56 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 My take is that Marrone wanted the Bills. He wanted to come to Buffalo. No one begged him to take the job. I look forward to seeing what he can do with the team..
Heels20X6 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 TBD: the place where we can bash every decision, move, or even thought the Bills have - but anyone else says something negative and they're dog****. Love it. Hey, the Bills are like your idiot brother that constantly screws up. He may be an idiot but he's your idiot and the only person that can call him an idiot is you.
Dr. Trooth Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Ah yes. Another rating based on what criteria? The two best professions to be in is a writer or meteorologist. They can espouse anything they want, always be wrong, and never be held accountable. Hell, even if the Bills were to win SB with Marrone, not one single person will look back on this rating, or any other articles this author whiffed on.
