Does it come down to us not wanting to pay that much money? I dont know much about the tags, so please let me know.

If you use the tag, you MUST pay the tagged player the average of the Top 5 paid players at that position. In 2003, the Franchise Tender for a LT was over $7,000,000. For a DT, it was over $5,500,000.00. It's certainly higher now. Those hits go directly against your cap THIS season.
