BuffaloWings Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 $10,000 fine for Brady...$10,500 fine for gore(?) For wearing socks to low????? Whoops plyngby...didn't see your post... I really hate the whole fine thing for being improperly dressed. Last I looked, the NFL wasn't a fashion show. I think Brady's fine is legit. I wouldn't have been upset if it was more, but the ESPN article made a good point...had the league not fined Brady at all, then defensive players would have been completely alienated and it would provide further proof of a double standard, IMO.

Fan in Chicago Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Here you go...Ian Rapoport @RapSheet #Patriots QB Tom Brady was fined $10,000 for unnecessary roughness in the AFC championship game, I'm told. Came on the Ed Reed slide I don't know what to think of this until I see the crazy meter reading.

Agreed, I'm happy with the Brady fine in that he was punished at all. The league went from saying there was no foul and nothing wrong with the play to at least acknowledging it was a bit of a dirty move. Yeah, Brady "could have" taken Reed's knee out, but he didnt. No harm, small foul. At least the NFL made a move that puts Brady on notice that he is not above being punished.
NoSaint Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 (edited) 2 fines came out of last weeks games . 1 was on Tom Brady for sliding & trying to take out Ed Reed at the end of a play. The other was to Frank Gore --- for wearing his socks too short ??? And the big thing is Gore got find more money than Brady, talk about preferential treatment for QB's ! Brady could have very easily ended Reeds career had he (meaning Reed) been going a bit faster or had his weight shifted or any little weird deal so i can see a hefty fine for him, but Gore ?? Gore was fined $10,500 for wearing his socks too short & Brady got fined $10,000 for sliding into Reed & that one looked pretty intentional. I don't mean he was intentionally trying to take Reeds knee out & hurt him but he was intentional in bringing his leg up to hit something or some one it wasn't just the way he landed. I think the commish should rethink his amounts that he charged for what infraction. I mean the punishment should fit the crime & $10,500 for wearing your socks too short as they say ... COME ON MAN !! Uniform violations are negotiated in the CBA for exact amount I believe. just like first offense H2H hits are 20k plus a 5% annual escalator (21k this year), I believe uniform violations were 10k plus the 5% which is 10.5k this year. might be wrong but i believe that is where the number comes from. Rinlo Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Once again the NFL makes a mockery of itself. While I must give them credit for doing the right thing and fining Brady, the fact that Gore was fined more for wearing his socks too low clearly shows that the dress code in the NFL is more important than player safety.

It's not a fashion show and that is exactly why they don't let guys choose to have fashionable choices. They wear a uniform.... which is uniform in appearance for everybody.

Come now. I was deeply offended by Gore wearing his socks too low.

The fashion fines should still be lesser than fines for unneccessary roughness with either reckless disregard for, or intent to injure another.
BuffaloWings Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 where were you when the fasionistas mocked our old uniforms? I didn't like them, but the NFL didn't fine the Bills for wearing them. They should have been fined for their performance while wearing the uniforms.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 (edited) A sissy fine to go with his sissy kick Only $10 K for committing a possible injury? Edited January 24, 2013 by BillsFan-4-Ever

Fixed. The dress code fine is a set amount per the posts above. The kick fine is completely a matter of who did the kicking and who was on the receiving end. If Reed kicks Brady the fine is $50,000.
NoSaint Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 2 fines came out of last weeks games . 1 was on Tom Brady for sliding & trying to take out Ed Reed at the end of a play. The other was to Frank Gore --- for wearing his socks too short ??? FYI - more fines have continued to roll out. Pollard picked one up too. Best advice: don't assume we know all the fines doled any given week. Often we don't.
