It's been a year since President Barack Obama's jobs council has had an official meeting, and the panel’s mandate will expire this month unless he extends it, according to Politico.

The President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness last met one year ago, on Jan. 17, at the White House, when it gave a list of recommendations to Obama, Politico reports. The meeting was the fourth since Obama created the group in 2011.

The White House isn't commenting about why the group hasn't been meeting, according to Politico.

Economy: Last week marked a milestone of sorts: It's been an entire year since President Obama's Jobs Council last met. Say, wasn't this the president who repeatedly promised to "focus like a laser" on jobs?

Obama's failed jobs "laser" has been dropped. In its place is a "laser-like" political focus on gun control, the fiscal cliff, the debt ceiling, anything that distracts the public. That explains why he hasn't asked his "Jobs Council" to meet.

Indeed, his policies appear designed to kill job creation in America. Don't believe it? Just look at the data.

Officially, some 23 million people don't have regular work. While official unemployment has dipped below 8%, the real unemployment rate — the one that counts discouraged workers and those who'd like full-time jobs but can't find one — is 14.4%.

Yes, we know, this is a tired litany. And yet, have we become as a people so inured to Obama's failure that we no longer take note of it?

Worse, do we just do nothing, letting Obama's ruinous Keynesian experiments take their course?

It sure would have been nice to hear/see Mitt Romney pound the living s**t out of Obama on this during the Presidential campaign.

Wouldn't have made a difference. Those who voted for Barry didn't care about the economy or jobs.

Obama Continues to Violate His Own ‘Stimulus’ Law by Not Releasing Quarterly Reports

Have you heard much about President Obama’s $787,000,000,000 economic “stimulus” (now estimated to cost $831,000,000,000) lately? In its last report, published in 2011, the president’s own Council of Economic Advisors released an estimate showing that, for every $317,000 in “stimulus” spending that had by then gone out the door, only one job had been created or saved. Even in Washington, that’s not considered good bang for the buck.

Moreover, that was the fifth consecutive “stimulus” report that showed this number getting progressively worse.

Alas, that was the last report we’ve seen. Never mind that Section 1513 of the “stimulus” legislation, which Obama spearheaded and signed into law, requires the executive branch to submit a new report every three months.

It reads:

“In consultation with the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the Secretary of the Treasury, the Chairperson of the Council of Economic Advisers shall submit quarterly reports to the Committees on Appropriations of the Senate and House of Representatives that detail the impact of programs funded through covered funds on employment, estimated economic growth, and other key economic indicators.”

{snip}

With only 58.6 percent of Americans currently employed — down 2.4 percent from the time of Obama’s first inauguration — it’s not surprising that the Obama administration doesn’t really want to fulfill it legal responsibilities and release subsequent reports on its failed “stimulus.” However, it hardly seems fair — to use one of Obama’s favorite words — that the rich and (extremely) powerful think that they can choose whether or not to abide by the laws they spearhead and sign, while the rest of us are forced to obey them.

Perhaps it’s time for the rich and powerful to do their fair share and obey the laws that they enforce against others. And perhaps this is something that the House of Representatives might want to look into.

WHAT AUSTERITY??? :wallbash:

Austerity (noun): Deficit spending at a slower rate.

Example: Due to harsh austerity measures, spending decelerated from a 10.1% CAGR to a 9.9% CAGR.

On the Left, talking about something is the same as doing something...........................................you know that.

results don't matter ...............its intent that important.

Look to the December government report on the failure of the Head Start program after 4 decades....................and no politician will even comment on it .

Let's make sure we all understand this, deficit spending is stimulus.

So we've have had four straight Trillion dollar years of Deficit spending. Which means four of the highest years on record of stimulus spending, and they call that austerity? Only in looney left wing circles would anyone call a year of trillion dollar deficit spending as austerity.

So wait do you guys want to slash spending right now or not...getting a little confusing in here....

You are either trolling or don't know how to read.

What we are branding as ridiculous is how someone could say that the reason the economy contracted is because of austerity which is ridiculous because there has been no such thing.

If that **** confuses you, then you are worse than NJSue.
