judman Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Back when Pat Summerall and John Madden called games they used to have a little clock that would appear during punts to show the hang time. I liked that feature. I wonder why they did away with it? As I recall, they were the only broadcast team that showed it. Not important? Who cares about hang time?
Yard Monkey Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I always liked it, as well. Quite often you would see the punts with lower hang time busted for big returns....
l< j Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Because they couldn't monetize something that lasts only 4 seconds.
nickdaniels Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I liked it as well. I felt the hang time clock added to the broadcast.
Beerball Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 3.5 is the ultimate hang time. It's what all of the good ones are shooting for.

Big Turk Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Highest max hang time for a punter this year? Shawn Powell at 5.80 seconds... Lowest max hang time this year for punters? Brian Moorman at 4.70 seconds... We may not have liked the move when it happened, but it seems to have been a wise decision by the front office...
Dr. Trooth Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 FYI... I know we all prefer instant pudding and would like it on the screen when we watch a game, but, folks.... just whip out your smart phone and use the "stop watch" feature. Should be right in your clock dialogue. I sometimes use it during a game to see snap to release time for QBs and punt hang time. If you want to watch a clinic, this Sunday, time Brady's snap to release. I mean, man there were a few times it was so quick I couldn't stop that dern thing quick enough. I mean, like less than 1.5 seconds.
