Joe Miner Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Too much Pot will do that to you. ????? Who told you that? Cause it's BS. Apparently it also makes you defensive...
Maury Ballstein Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) Have you ever done a benchpress on Weeeeeeeed? I am no stranger to the weight room or the weed, I can bench 225 12 times as an out of shape 34 year old. pot won't do it you......lack of work ethic as a by product of pot might. Howabout that Tavon Austin? Knocking out more reps than top 5 rated DE Damontre Moore at half the size. Edited February 26, 2013 by Ryan L Billz

Howabout that Tavon Austin? Knocking out more reps than top 5 rated DE Damontre Moore at half the size. He's (Austin) is short, everyone knows being short helps the bench press. But Damontre Moore's total is puny regardless for a D-lineman or even a LB. Cornerbacks, however, should not be built for the bench press. While it may come naturally to a few people out there, for people of slender build, 225 is a lot; and even 4 reps would suggest time in the weight room. Speed and jumping would be the keys here,.

One could try to sell this result... or, admit that 4 is the least total number of reps overall at the combine for everyone that performed the BP. Demetrius Mooray sucked as well, but these 2 guys were the statistical tail of the curve. To put it in perspective, every single QB, RB and WR that tried did more reps. 4 is so low that the weaker end of the WR group had double the reps. Forget bench press. He's small and he's slow. But is he smart?
MOFO Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 My 15 year old coincidently did 225 X4 times yesterday as a past of his football workout...don't see the NFL in my sons future...not impressive for a pro...he better be really impressive in every other catagory....
JPS Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 The guy is a national star with a cool nick name on a National powerhouse football team and gets booted off for weed. I'd go with "no" on the question of whether he's smart. Plus, I don't care. Slow is slow.
KD in CA Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 ????? Who told you that? Cause it's BS. Too much pot doesn't make people lazy and lethargic?? Things must have changed a lot since I went to college. Apparently it also makes you defensive...
The Wiz Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Too much pot doesn't make people lazy and lethargic?? Things must have changed a lot since I went to college. Pot doesn't lead to other drugs, it leads to @#$#in' carpentry!

But is he smart? oh, it's low, obviously. but i just think a.) it's not SUPER important for a DB, and b.) doesn't mean he is exceedingly weak and never went into a weight room. putting up 225 is not something many people can just walk in and do, not people built for quickness and speed anyway. those people on here saying they can do it, or their son can, maybe so... but i don't they approach a 4.43 40, maybe not a sub 5, soooo... it's not really relevant.
K-9 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Weak or not, the kid is showing some good DB skills at the combine right now. He moves very well. And 4.43 is more than enough to get the job done. GO BILLS!!!

tennesseeboy Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 If the guy lasts to round 4 he would be a major steal. I suspect that if we want him we should take him in round 3. I'd have to kick the tire and look under the hood on this guy and find out if he is just a wild kid who may have matured or a bona fide head case.
peterpan Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I'd love me some late round Honey Badger. Lots of teams will undoubtedly remove him from their board completely (the Bills Im sure are one of them) but that will cause him to fall into the 3rd-4th I bet.
Rob's House Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Bench press doesn't necessarily mean that much anyway. The fact that he can put it up means he's probably strong enough to play effectively if he knows how to use it. I can't bench 225 once, but I can put most guys who can on their backs.
Maury Ballstein Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 what do you with them after they are on their backs?
Rob's House Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 what do you with them after they are on their backs? At this point it's a bit of exaggeration. If I can't take a guy out inside a minute I'm toast. I just don't have that much steam anymore. But there was a time...
