Captain Hindsight Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 We have 20 mil in cap space too I feel like I read somewhere
The Wiz Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 There's certainly a better format for this. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/ need to go into each players link to see the breakdown but yea.
TallskiWallski83 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) My reaction: -Kelsay, Mcgee, Fitzpatrick and Brad Smith should be cut outright -BIlls will likely let Barnett walk aftenext season making LB a top priority in the draft and FA (its huge position of need anyways) -The bills are going to have to choose between resigning Levitre or Wood. I chose Wood (he'll be cheaper b/c he wont want to risk injury next season) -Jairus Byrd absolutely must be resigned. -CJ Spiller has a longer contract then I thought, I think we should look into giving him a long term deal after he carries the main workload for a whole year -Mario is expensive but was worth the money. Why do you have to choose between wood and levitre?
Stealth Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I dont agree with cutting Brad Smith I think he has value that wasn't maximized and he's shown it when he is used.
TallskiWallski83 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Why do you have to choose between wood and levitre? Im not a salary cap expert but I just dont see how the bills can afford to keep Byrd, Levitre, and Wood without putting themselves in cap trouble a couple years down the road. I believe Byrd is a core-blue chip player on this team and we absolutely cannot afford to lose a playmaker like him. I think Levitre is great but G's in the NFL are replaceable and if it means losing Levitre so we can resign a player like Spiller or Gilmore 3/4 years down the line I chose that option.

I feel like part of this is our "we can't have nice things" attitude around here. In the past we couldn't afford good players because we were paying bad ones. These are exactly the types we should be giving the money to. We really aren't in bad salary cap shape. Edited January 12, 2013 by NoSaint
3rdand12 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 We have 20 mil in cap space too I feel like I read somewhere Thats before Levitre and Byrd are signed, if i read it correctly. How much does that leave us for the strippers and such orFree agents ?

BRAWNDO Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 big name cuts......fitz, mcgee, brad smith, kelsay I think Fitz restructures his contract and takes a backup role. He has one year of experience with Hackett in 2009. His skills maybe lacking, but he does have able to tutor younger QBs.
Saint Doug Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Great post! That said, I fully expect Spiller, if not this coming season, to hold out for a new contract the year after.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Wow, my last job I got a bigger signing bonus than the punter.
SBUffalo Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 The best spot for this is right here: http://nyjetscap.com/Bills/bills2013.php You will not find a better spot because it tells you everything you need to know. To be clear: Prorated bonus column is something they're due at some point during the offseason if they're still on the roster at that point, cap value is what they will count against the cap if they are on the roster in 2013, dead money is what they will count against the cap if they are cut in the offseason, and the "cap saving" number is how much money that the Bills would save by cutting them before all bonuses are due. If the cap savings number is in parenthesis then it would actually COST the Bills that much against the cap if that player were cut this offseason. The ONLY mistake I've found on this page is that Mario's number is supposed to be in parenthesis.
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I dont agree with cutting Brad Smith I think he has value that wasn't maximized and he's shown it when he is used. Only on condition there are no more wildcat plays!
