peterpan Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 We took James Hardy instead. He is even worse! I still wish we traded for AQ that year.
RyanC883 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Sweed has so much talent, he just drops the ball. He could be a good replacement for McKelvin. (can prob cover, no ball skills).
1B4IDie Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) I liked Sweed and he is still better than James Hardy. Turns out Jordy Nelson was the cream of the second round crop. Its not the practice squad 2.) This must also be in the future as it says Sweed played 6 seasons in the CFL plus 3 seasons in the NFL. Maybe its in Canadian years or something. PromoTheRobot Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 That draft ought to be a lesson to people not to get caught up in the hype. Oh what am I saying? We do that every draft! PTR

The report is poorly written. The 6yrs refers to the other receiver that was signed.

NoSaint Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Meanwhile, I read that Kamar Aiken has been promoted to the Patriots' playoff roster... remember when many of us thought he should get a chance? clearly proven right by him being their 9th option this year.
Buftex Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Sweed has so much talent, he just drops the ball. He could be a good replacement for McKelvin. (can prob cover, no ball skills). He caught everything in college...not sure what happened in the pros.

Yeah Sweed was on the roster for the 2009 Super Bowl.
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 He caught everything in college...not sure what happened in the pros. Better quality DBs, more complicated defenses, fewer cupcakes against which to pad one's stats... the same reasons why so many excellent college QBs flounder in the pros. Kid's a solid athlete, to be sure, but it gets harder each step up the ladder.

Kid's a solid athlete, to be sure, but it gets harder each step up the ladder. Actually Sweed was in Tomlin's Dog House. Tomlin didn't think Sweed put in the work. He never got out of the Dog House. As his considerable physical gifts are only working out to pedestrian stats in the much weaker CFL maybe there was a real effort issue there since he never caught on with another NFL team.
RyanC883 Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 He caught everything in college...not sure what happened in the pros. Very true. Nerves perhaps? It was bizarre He got separation, was open, and then would drop the ball. Perhaps he needs a sports psychologist. So strange, it's not like the balls were being knocked out of his hands either in the pros, he would just drop it.
Big Hurt Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I thought James Hardy was mis-used in our offense. A 6-7 receiver should get more touches in the red zone but he was hardly on the field for those situations.
