buffalo1983 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I am a little less concerned about Hackett being named OC, then who is named DC. Marrone's influence should be evident on Offense. Agree 100%
NoSaint Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) No one's bashing him--- but he's incredibly young and inexperienced. It's seemingly the first wrong step so far for this "new era". Given his previous comments about an nfl guy, and the rumors that NH was staying at cuse it sounds like something unexpected happened and this may be plan b. perhaps Carmichael was denied an interview for instance. Punch Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 There's some interesting information about Marrone's relationship to Hackett in regards to running the offense at Syracuse, here: http://www.buffalobillsdraft.com/2013/01/flexibility-the-key-to-bills-coordinator-search/
buffalo1983 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 @SalSports: Hackett did a great job with the #Syracuse offense this season and especially with Ryan Nassib. But boy this is a big leap for him.
Punch Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Given his previous comments about an nfl guy, and the rumors that NH was staying at cuse it sounds like something unexpected happened and this may be plan b. perhaps Carmichael was denied an interview for instance. The Saints are still working on Carmichael?
buffalo1983 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 @SalSports: That said, we know coaches like to hire coaches they feel they work well with and are comfortable with. More high risk high reward here. @ByTimGraham: New Bills offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett at a glance http://t.co/Zb6NZgWm
NoSaint Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 The Saints are still working on Carmichael? Rumored to be yes, that they very much want him to stay but given the Payton contract issues things have been delayed. Just a theory.
Kelly the Dog Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Wow. Pretty surprised. I really think that Marrone will be installing the offense. It's really a matter of play-calling. My first thought though is that I'm not happy about it. I would have much preferred him at QB coach for a couple years and a young guy like Carmichael as OC. Hackett's been involved in offensive football at a high level for his entire life, however, with his father being Paul. So I'm not really worried about his age at 33. he has the knowledge of a 43 year old I would think. But I would much prefer a guy who has been in the NFL the last 4 years and not the Big East. Marrone better hire an established DC like Pettine though.
Punch Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 On the other hand, isn't this very much the approach that Bill Belichick has taken over the years? Young, hungry talented coaches that he can mold and delegate his philosophy to? Or am I already justifying and rallying??
wonderbread Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 We are gonna SQUASH New Hampshire this year! Winner
K D Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 You didn't hear? Everything on the interwebz is true. If you believe that, kbiggz, I've got some oceanfront property in Montana to sell you Believe it yet?
Rob's House Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 It makes sense that he'd bring in a guy that runs his offense seeing as how he's, you know, an offensive coach. I'm more concerned w/ DC.
SBUffalo Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) I'm hoping this means that Tyrone Wheatley and Rob Moore follow Marrone and Hackett to the NFL as RBs and WRs coaches respectively. That's all I'd want from Cuse. But I'm thinking Wheatley has a good shot at being the new OC at Cuse. Just kidding, somebody just said Shafer will go outside of the program for the new OC. Maury Ballstein Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Wheatley better gives us 10 carries a game player/ coach.......need some fredex insurance.
CardinalScotts Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Paul's kid and thought to be very bright....I know nothing else
buffalo1983 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Little info on him: http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=bigeast&id=35222&tag=nathaniel-hackett
Punch Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Thank god Ryan McNaughton chimed in: Ryan McNaughton @Ryan4Niles Is it wrong of me to be more upset about Hackett leaving Syracuse than Marrone?
KOKBILLS Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I'm AOK with Marrone, so I really like the idea of bringing Hackett...They obviously feel they work well together...That can't be a bad thing...People who have had success together should stick together... Like The Beatles for example...
BRAWNDO Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Is Berman's Taxicab Driver reporting Ryan Nassib with the Bills Eighth Selection yet?
