Best EVER?

Deion Sanders and Brian Urlacher

I thought of Jim Brown, but we have good running backs and need a cb, second receiver and kick returner and a great middle linebacker most of all.

original poster said no QB's....

Ah...missed that. Now it makes sense. In that case I might go with JPP on the other end. LBs are easier to find than pass rushers built like Bruce.

I wasnt thinking about any scheme or actual use. Just going on talent and potential. Leave it up to a pro DC to figure out how to use it all ;)

If I had to pick players that would best fit the team right now, then Id pick an OLB over Willis or Smith. Although Aldon Smith is technically listed as OLB due to the 34. All of the pro bowl voting for OLB has them as Rush 34 OLBs.

I know Ive asked this before, but who are the star 43 OLBs?

It's really not a star position these days. You figure half the teams run 43 - cuts you down to 30 or so candidates. Now half the time those teams are in nickel meaning half those OLBs are at best 2 down players (15 total left). Now of those 15 a few more often come out in the nickel and are replaced by a safety or coverage linebacker (we do it with shep/Scott at MLB but even my go to example of New Orleans drops roman Harper down and brings an extra safety in over the top). If you figure a couple teams do that kind of stuff your down to about 10 guys that are 43 OLBs that are full time on the field even. A bit exaggerated I'm sure but when you get to brass tacks its not far fetched to say Barnett was top ten for sheer lack of volume. Briggs is the standard name. Daryl smith is a good free agent option this year- probably a prototype for SAM. sean weatherspoons good on the weakside. Chad greenway, erin henderson. David Hawthorne has shown some flashes.... But it's just not that flashy a position.

From December 16, 2012:

The following quotes are from NFL scouts, coaches and front-office personnel, speaking on the condition of anonymity:

• “I don’t know how badly (49ers LB Patrick) Willis is injured, but he’s not playing with the same passion and fire that he did earlier in his career. When he knows he is blocked, which is happening a lot more often than it did in the past, he is not getting to the ball. Teams are doing a better job scheming, too, and making sure they are getting a body on him. (Fellow Niners ILB) NaVorro Bowman has been much more impactful this year.”

Compare Willis to Poz in 2012. There ain't much difference in productivity:

http://espn.go.com/n.../patrick-willis

They had the same number of tackles for loss and forced fumbles. Poz had one more INT and Willis had two more passes defensed. Poz had 18 more tackles and 19 more total tackles (combined tackles and assists).

Fwiw, Bowman had a lot more tackles than Willis this season: http://espn.go.com/n.../navorro-bowman

I learned a valuable lesson here: a solid half of this board never reads past the subject line based on all the qb answers!

Normally crayonz posts would remind me, but this thread ended up good for that - even if the football talk was totally nonexistent.

Aaron rodgers 1 ( including QB)

Calvin Johnson 2

JJ WATT 3

Good save on the qb.

Everyone's sticking to the "I don't care how they fit, just make them" it seems
