LiterateStylish Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Bart Scott could be a great addition to our LB corps. The Jets sure are dumping a lot. The Jets are expected to release OLB Calvin Pace, ILB Bart Scott, OT Jason Smith, and S Eric Smith as soon as the waiver period opens in February.Pace has been one of the least productive pass rushers in the league over the past three seasons. The moves will save $8.56 million on Pace, $7.15 million on Scott, $12 million on Jason Smith, and $3 million on Eric Smith while accounting for just $4.5 million in dead money. The Jets will have still little cap space with just 10 starters under contract. http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/0/football-headlines
BillsGuyInMalta Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I'd actually like to sign Jason Smith and turn him into a Guard. He's pretty much busted out as a Tackle because of his mobility but he still packs a good initial punch.
NoSaint Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 lately, hasnt he been... essentially.... awful? jets are screwed cap wise. holmes, sanchez, cromartie and revis really have them tied up in a bad spot
LiterateStylish Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 lately, hasnt he been... essentially.... awful? jets are screwed cap wise. holmes, sanchez, cromartie and revis really have them tied up in a bad spot Are you thinking of Pace or Scott? I know Pace has been underwhelming but I've always thought Scott could play.
JÂy RÛßeÒ Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 The Jets will have still little cap space with just 10 starters under contract. Wow that's really bad.
LiterateStylish Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 Wow that's really bad. Part of the reason I was shocked Rex wasn't let go. The Jets have to essentially re-build this off-season because Rex came in and started signing every free agent under the sun and now theyre stuck. They should have fired Rex now and let the new coach re-build under his vision.
Maddog69 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 FWIW - Kelvin Sheppard has better stats than Bart Scott over the last 2 years. I think Scott's best days are behind him.
JPS Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 My NY friends hate Bart Scott and insist he was done 2 years ago.
LiterateStylish Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 FWIW - Kelvin Sheppard has better stats than Bart Scott over the last 2 years. I think Scott's best days are behind him. Ok, good to know! Guess I haven't been paying enough attention.
NoSaint Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Are you thinking of Pace or Scott? I know Pace has been underwhelming but I've always thought Scott could play. both? i was commenting on scott specifically though. i think hes found his way to the bench at times this year. his bark now officially bigger than his bite.
snafu Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I'm in NYC and no Jet fan will shed a tear if Bart Scott goes. He has been on the decline for awhile and he is not good with the media at all, to the point of being a disruption.
Captain Hindsight Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Do we get Baltimores version or the Jets version of Bart Scott? Because the latter has been awful for 2 years and if not for a horrible contract, would have been let go last year
Campy Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Part of the reason I was shocked Rex wasn't let go. The Jets have to essentially re-build this off-season because Rex came in and started signing every free agent under the sun and now theyre stuck. They should have fired Rex now and let the new coach re-build under his vision. No, he didn't. But they have fired their GM, who did.
LiterateStylish Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 I HEARD OF THEM!!!! No, he didn't. But they have fired their GM, who did. He absolutely did. He even spoke about getting "his players".
KD in CA Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 No, he didn't. But they have fired their GM, who did. Yup; the Jets went all out to win and it didn't happen. Now they are in salary cap hell. And yes, Bart Scott is done.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 The Jets defense may also have been a bit underwhelming as a reaction to what was going on on the offensive side of the ball.
Shamrock Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Bart Scott got a nice Koi pond from those guys off of "Tanked". What about the carp?
