swnybillsfan Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 good, bad or otherwise...it definately doesn't have that "here we go again" feel to it.
Hater Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 NFL Network is Reporting Doug Marrone has Signed with the Bills too
Omar Little Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Two 8-5 years isn't necessarily impressive. It is relative to what he inherited. The 'Cuse program was totally in shambles pre-Marrone, and that wasn't very long ago.
Chandler#81 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 NFLN reporting it. Its a done deal! Welcome, Coach Marrone!
Hazed and Amuzed Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I'm going to have to have a long talk with myself to convince me to be happy about this.
Bill from NYC Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 "Bills President and CEO Russ Brandon, an East Syracuse native, serves on the Syracuse University Sports Management Advisory Board, and has a measure of familiarity with Marrone." http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Bills-meet-Syracuse-head-coach-Doug-Marrone/a52d984f-8c4f-4aac-afc3-7d95b2e98331 So, was this a marketing move, or one of cronyism? I don't know, but as a Bills Fan I will rally behind him and hope that he is up to the task. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BillsCelticsAngelsBama Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 QB friendly offense ! I like it. Don't think it necessarily means Nassib is the choice but it sure doesn't hurt his chances. This style of offense would suit Barkley and Wilson very well. Happy
K D Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Chip must have said the Bills had no chance so they made a snap decision and went for Cleveland's backup plan (Marrone) before they could. Chip will probably end up in Philly and Browns will be in trouble
GOBILLS78 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Can't pretend to know a single thing about this guy. That alone might be a good thing!
BillsCelticsAngelsBama Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) If he will keep the offense he is/was running @ Syracuse, we should all be happy. Been told by a college coordinator that it is one of the easiest systems to learn. That should benefit our new QB (Barkley,Wilson or Nassib) Bring it on, BRING IT ON !!!!! doro Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 8-5 would get many college coaches fired. I don't get it He probably comes the cheapest.
Omar Little Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 So, was this a marketing move, or one of cronyism? The case can be made that this move helps with regional marketing, but it's definitely not cronyism as Marrone was also drawing serious interest from both Philly and Cleveland.
Chandler#81 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Saints OC from 06-08. Syracuse HC since then, turning their program around. Can't pretend to know a single thing about this guy. That alone might be a good thing!
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 WOW so did they go the lets try something new approach versus retread or figured he is cheapest option.

I'm guessing he interviewed with them to increase the price for the Bills, just like Kelly's interview with us.
Santana Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 This is awful, I mean really? Doug F'n Marone? wooow, i'm speechless

8-8 Forever? Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Marrone was the consolation prize for Cleveland if they couldn't get Chip Kelly. Why would we want Cleveland's backup plan? I just don't get this at all. Who is going to be OC and DC? Because the only coach who would consider Buffalo an upgrade is one who today is in f ing Syracuse. He's cheap since he is coming from the college ranks and he's local, so the thought of coming to "old and cold" is just more of the same. Sounds like the Bills to me. They will not pay Lovie or Wiz 5 or 6 mil/per to be HC. no way. Good hire. Syracuse looked good against WV. He'll bring his college staff with him, heck the Bills are pretty much a college team anyway. and he will be fired exactly 34 months from now or sooner if ownership changes. and we will start over again. again. did I say, again? Isn't it great to be a bills fan?
