EmotionallyUnstable Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 I think we keep Levitre and Byrd. Would love to see us grab Nassib in the 2nd or late 1st (trade down, or back into first); and Alec Lemon in RD 6. We also need a bruser back. CJ, Freddie, Bruser. Perhaps better utilization of McIntrye?!? yessssssss
purple haze Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Okay, I am not a troll....35 year Bills fan from Rochester. I was attempting to point out that as crazy as my post sounded, so was my personal feeling toward the hiring of Doug "Phoney" Marrone. Russ Brandon has been calling the shots for three years. Ralph has simply been a figure head. Russ' hands were all over the Nix hire, Gailey hire, Wandstett (sp) hire and so on. For those of us foolish enough to believe that Russ now has the freedom to make decisions and that massive change and modern day improvement are on the horizon, we are heading down the primrose path! We have wittnessed these decisions for three years, as stated above. I hope I am wrong about Marrone! Really I do. I was married January 19, 1991 (remember that date?), I have seen it all. I have laughed, cried, celebrated a Monday night victory over Dallas a few years ago with 1:00 left in the game only to walk out of my buddy's basement in complete and utter shock. I have seen Don Smith score the first Bills touchdown in a Super Bowl. I saw Don Beebe step out of bounds and return to catch the TD that helped us in the "comback". I just believe that once again, the Bills are hoping for a "home town" shock to stimulate ticket sales, save a little money telling Marrone that in three/four years, if you have proven yourself, we can talk real contract dollars and of course, selling this bill of goods to those of us who at this point in our loyal career as Bills fans, would buy just about anything! You don't even know what he's being paid. And signing Marrone ain't moving tickets b/c he coached Syracuse. They thought he was the best cat for the gig out of the coaches they interviewed. I preferred Lovie, but if it's Marrone he must have been more convincing than the other candidates.
billsfan89 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Fitz is done unless he is willing to restructure his deal. I think/hope Levitre stays, but I think Byrd might be a goner just because we only have one franchise tag. I think the offense is going to be similar talent wise outside of Fitz but I think how we scheme and play call is due for a huge change.
Ennjay Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 This. I follow the Seahawks as I live a couple of hours from Seattle. He was not the qb the Bills needed last year and he's not gonna be the one they need next year. Indecisive, weak arm and not incredibly mobile to make up for it. Yeah, I agree. I only meant in my OP that he's still a mystery in Buffalo. But if he's a mystery next year it will be somewhere else.
Rob's House Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I don't want to burst yall's bubble but if Nassib is our new QB Fitz might might start next year.
KollegeStudnet Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Overall, I want this team to change! When I read Marrone had the players clean the locker room to be proud of where they suited up was a nice touch! The losing ways and terrible game managment needs to end--hopefully, this will be true.
JPS Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I don't want to burst yall's bubble but if Nassib is our new QB Fitz might might start next year. Doesn't Fitz get $10 M either way?
Fan in San Diego Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Tashard Choice might be getting nervous.
JM57 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Doesn't Fitz get $10 M either way? I believe i read or heard somewhere that the majority of Fitz's money for next season is from a roster bonus. March 1, perhaps?
ganesh Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I believe i read or heard somewhere that the majority of Fitz's money for next season is from a roster bonus. March 1, perhaps? 3M Roster Bonus for being on the team on March 1st 2013 7.85M Salary, guaranteed if makes the final 53 for the season on Day 1 of regular season. Since Fitz is unlikely to get a starting job elsewhere, he could take a pay cut and re-organized his salary to remain a backup or compete for the starting job during the off season.
mountainwampus Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Tashard Choice might be getting nervous. Definitely gone, along with Chan's other pet, Thigpen.
ganesh Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Definitely gone, along with Chan's other pet, Thigpen. And may be Brad Smith too (Or at least he would have to take a pay cut to be back here). Unless they are unable to sign McKelvin.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 CJ Spiller - Traded to Oakland for Carson Palmer and a 5th Round Pick in the 2014 Draft; Fred Jackson - Retained but as Tashard Choice's backup; Ryan Fitzpatrick - Starts at QB while Carson Palmer is inactive for 15 games. Brad Smith is Ryan's backup. Tyler Thigpen takes over the wildcat formation; Stevie Johnson - Due to his previous down field blocking capabilities, is moved to TE and finishes the year with 353 yards on 115 catches Hey - What I script above is absoltutely NO CRAZIER than the Bills choosing Doug "Phoney" Marrone over Lovie Smith Whatever you say. Fitz is done unless he is willing to restructure his deal. I think/hope Levitre stays, but I think Byrd might be a goner just because we only have one franchise tag. I think the offense is going to be similar talent wise outside of Fitz but I think how we scheme and play call is due for a huge change. He should restructure his deal. He's more suited to a West Coast offense and could be a useful back-up, especially if they get lucky with a vet like Smith or a rookie.
SBUffalo Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 He should restructure his deal. Having your former starting QB in the lockerroom as a backup is cancerous. Fitz has to go.
Nitro Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Most coaches purge the roster in rebuilding a team. The victims are the 2nd and 3rd stringers or guys that don't fit the scheme (3-4 vs 4-3). The Draft may bring 3 or 4 new starters and free agency may garner 1 or 2. I see the Bills resigning Levitre and Byrd. Look for new faces at QB, and WR on offense and LB on defense. I see the following not returning: Fitz, Tarvaris Jackson, Thigpen, donald Jones, Martin, McKelvin, Kelsay, Moats, Merriman and Troup to name a few.
Fisher Bills Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 It makes it more likely that we resign Levitre in my opinion. Marrone has always preached that you can't live without great lineman. CJ will get his carries now, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us bring in a big bruiser back. He worked with Payton in NO who really likes to have 3 guys that can carry the rock. Martin is most likely a goner. We might grab a guy like Alec Lemon in the later rounds. I don't know much about cuse football but got free 3rd row tickets right behind the defensive bench so I went to a couple games and I liked what I saw out of that Alec lemon. He is raw but I wouldn't mind spending a late round pick on him. However he is a slot reciever and as of right now it looks like we have about 4 of those
2020 Our Year For Sure Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Having your former starting QB in the lockerroom as a backup is cancerous. Fitz has to go. I'm not buying this. The worry is that it could cause a divide in the locker room-- but somehow I can't envision anyone campaigning through the locker room trying to get Fitz back in.
swnybillsfan Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Having your former starting QB in the lockerroom as a backup is cancerous. Fitz has to go. in most cases yes, but with fitz, who knows?
