BobChalmers Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) Herm Edwards on ESPN this morning with the early news on Marrone's hiring: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=8817982 Paraphrasing here, but Edwards said: - He hired Doug Marrone with the Jets - did a great job transitioning a DT to OG who went on to pro-bowls. - Said Marrone is a good leader - BUT Said he needs to find a good D/C I'm saying the odds are better than 50/50 Marrone hires his old boss to run his defense. And yes, that's what Gailey just did with Wanny. Edited January 6, 2013 by BobChalmers
jumbalaya Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 we should never had let Wade go 10 years ago. If we get an innovator and a motivator the defense could be solid with a new LB or two.
outsidethebox Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I am not sure what Edwards record as aDC is. His coaching record is unimpressive.

outsidethebox Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Two words - Stop It! Don't understand this comment. Are you saying no to Edwards?

White Linen Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Don't understand this comment. Are you saying no to Edwards? I don't want him. I think his overly dramatic delivery gets old and players start tunning it out. Cliche statements amusing for tv, but I want someone a bit more serious.
ChevyVanMiller Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Don't understand this comment. Are you saying no to Edwards? I don't think there is any chance that Edwards will leave ESPN for a DC position. Plus, very few guys, in any industry, want to go work for a guy that they once hired.

3rdand12 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) good point taken about D. Maroon needing a DC though. Edited January 6, 2013 by 3rdand12
Wagon Circler Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I believe that Herm Edwards went from coaching defensive backs to being the Jet head coach. So he has actually never been a defensive coordinator. He is a hoot on ESPN however.
