Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Actually if there had been a choice between Great and OK would have selected that one. From the college ranks, I'd rather have him than Chip Kelly as Kelly is to much of a "gimmick" DM has both NFL experience and head coaching experience. The only other choice I may have liked slightly better was Lovie Smith, but even with him, there are things to worry about like the offense. The league is becoming more and more offensive minded so from that standpoint, this may be the better choice. McCoy was a hot name, but the two QB's he's had sucess with were Tebow and Peyton Manning, one total gimmick, the second, best QB in football. Horton, may have been good, but again these days offense may be the better choice.
seadog Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I like. He's fresh and hungry has something to prove. Established coaches will not have the passion he can bring. does this mean we get the syracuse QB
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I have the same feeling I had when the bills got chan. Who the f$@k is Doug Marrone?
filthymcnasty08 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 If you aske me, the Browns are setting themselves up for more disappointment.....our choice is all upside, and there's a lot of room there to go up.
mob16151 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Hey ya'll try not to cause to much of a ruckus in this thread, and try to keep most of the conversation in the Marrone pinned thread. Took a lot of finagling to get this reopened so we could keep voting in the poll.
JoeF Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I am in the wait and see camp but cautiously optimistic. Would you rather have a guy on the rise or a guy at the end of his coaching career trying to capture greatness he never had? Any transition like this is hard and those expecting Gruden or Cowher were sure to be disappointed -- but I see the logic here -- Lovie Smith is a really good coach but he never won a super bowl and missed the playoffs in the majority of his years; same with Whisenhunt. Reid was not a candidate for the Bills job. Marrone knows what a great QB looks like (Brees) he also knows how to use talent we have (Spiller). Welcome Coach Marrone!
VBBILLZ13 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Terrible just Terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thans for nothing Brandon all you did was give your buddy a job not think about the future of the Bills and giving the fans a winning organization
The Poojer Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 i am coming around from my initial reaction...i am starting to like it, just gotta see who he brings in as his coaching staff
Malazan Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 It depends of who he brings in...especially for the defense.
outsidethebox Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Meh, I will take a wait and see approach. Its hard trying to be positive after the last 13 years. I just want to win. I dont care who the coach is.
mob16151 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Can someone who voted same ol same old give me thier logic?
LARD BUM Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Well, as a regular participant of the old school chat room that can't be mentioned on this forum, let's just say I'll have my waterboard ready to go for next season, just in case... On the bright side, if things do turn out poorly, I won't have to alter my handle too much from "Richard Mauron".
JPS Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 i am coming around from my initial reaction...i am starting to like it, just gotta see who he brings in as his coaching staff Justify and Rally.
