Rob's House
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/the-turnstile/changing-times-espn-shows-bowling-champion-kissing-husband-233141613.html Watch closely in the video above, and you'll see a small but important step forward in the world of sports: what may well be the first instance of a broadcast of an openly gay male pro athlete kissing his husband while celebrating. And it's played as if nothing unusual had happened ... which, of course, is exactly the case. This kind of **** really burns me up. I have no problem with gay people being gay, or living a gay lifestyle; it has no effect on me whatsoever, and I don't even care if they want to get married. But gay PDA is not the same as straight PDA, neither of which is terribly appropriate. This douche bag writer gets a warm fuzzy feeling watching two guys make out (he probably scurried to nearest bathroom stall and rubbed one out after seeing this) but I could do without his feel good "open mindedness". For the record, I considered drilling a guy in the face on New Years for making out with a girl in front of my kid. Get a !@#$ing room. And just because you like to push another dude's stool in does not free you from the limitations inherent in a polite society. Not rooting, but rutting. Remember, Rob is no longer Rob and someone else has taken over his name.

Shhhhhh it's 2013 you have to just accept it, no ones allowed to say what they think anymore. It's normal behavior ya seeeee ? I hate PDA as well, seems a lil strange. ExiledInIllinois
From a magox reply in the other thread: "Yeah, I kinda agree with this. The younger libertarian minded folks could end up being a huge boost for the R's moving forward. However, in order to do this, they have to let go of the Cons and Social goons." Looks like the R's have their work cut out for them! Onward and upward... To infinity and beyond! Anway... Why TF does this (OP's topic) bother anybody? And I am the liberal gay basher here... Heck, I am the straight basher too. Anger issues? Polite society? "For the record, I considered drilling a guy in the face on New Years for making out with a girl in front of my kid." God forbid if that was a same sex exchange! Shhhhhh it's 2013 you have to just accept it, no ones allowed to say what they think anymore. It's normal behavior ya seeeee ? I hate PDA as well, seems a lil strange. Same here about PDA... But bringing yourself to almost drill a guy in the face, New Year's Eve too boot? Huh. Now you know why people fire shots into a car @ FLA gas stations that won't turn down their music! Devil's music! Devil's lust! Why didn't he feel the urge to drill the chick in the face? It takes two to tango...

I don't like the "in your face" aspect of it. Like I said, I don't like straight people making out in public either. Gay PDA is a little worse because it's abnormal (sex is genetically and evolutionarily designed for reproduction - man + man or woman + woman is a misfiring of that function). Doesn't mean there's anything morally wrong with it, and it doesn't mean gay people should be belittled, but it "is what it is" and it is more disturbing to the average viewer that straight PDA (which again, I'm not okay with either), and that's based on scientific studies (I don't have a link but I heard it on Dr. Drew). you make it hard for me to root for straight people Any particular reason? Do you have something of substance to add?

I can't seem to recall any such visceral reaction from you before regarding PDA and its not like its absent in other sporting events of venues. Every golfer celebrates a title with a big embrace and a kiss from the wife. Football players do the same. You didn't find it hard to root for the Bills when David Nelson ran over to plant one on his cheerleader girlfriend at Texas Stadium. I asked questions in order to give you room to respond and explain more clearly before I jumped to conclusions. You still haven't cleared up whether its the author, bowler or his dude that makes it harder for you to "root for gays". You're typically pretty rational in my opinion, but the only thing I can take from this thread is that the sight of two men kissing makes you so uncomfortable that it actually makes it difficult for you to support their effort to gain acceptance. Why the hell were you watching bowling anyway? Edited January 4, 2013 by Jauronimo
UConn James
There's no laws being broken. What right do you have to make a scene of it? If you don't want to see it, change the channel, move your seat, etc. You don't have the right to not be offended.... frickin' deal with it. That's different because David Nelson's GF is hot. It's not the act that makes me uncomfortable; it's more the writer of the article who seems to have a highly satisfied case of the warm fuzzies over this. I've made it very clear that I have no problem with gay people doing whatever floats their boat. I have a gay cousin and I'm happy for her and her partner to do whatever makes them happy - I just don't want to see it. When I start making out with women in public (other than drunk in a bar) I'll wear my hypocrit hat. Another reason is kids. I'm not ready to explain homosexuality to my 5 year old. I love that people who preach tolerance are so intolerant of my decision to wait until she's old enough to understand things like this before they're thrust upon her. Also, as far as "root for gays", that's not to imply that if an athlete was gay it would be hard to root for him, it meant that this kind of "in your face" bull **** makes me less sympathetic of their cause. I didn't realize there was substance to reply to That's because you're a simpleton who never has anything of any interest or import to share. Run along, Sparky. Even on New Year's Eve... If so I'd like to thank you for telling me what I do and don't have the right to be offended by. I can play that game too: you don't have the right to be offended by my post. I didn't break any laws. Exactly... My guess it is the children thing. Want's to hide his head in the sand about broaching the subject w/the kidlets... I'm sure you'd be ok with sitting your 5 year old down to watch Logjammers too. What? want to keep your head in the sand about broaching the subject with the kidlets? I know you're thinking, there's a difference between kissing and !@#$ing. Certainly. But we're talking now about degrees and to what degree you want to expose your children to what level of sexuality and understanding.

Come on... Every year we go to Zoo Year's Eve @ the Brookfield Zoo... Very family orientated... They have a countdown @ 8:00pm. I don't think there is any kissing/sucking face there? Okay, maybe in the great ape habitat... I do recall, something fishy going on w/the tortoises though... Gonna have to be careful the prying eyes of my children don't see it! Gotta tell you, I almost missed that little peck and probably would have had the article and your OP not specifically referenced it. Seems like you'repointing your frustration in the wrong direction. I didn't see the kiss. I just read the article and it pissed me off. The gist of the article, that the bowler seemed to endorse, is that it's wonderful that gay PDA is becoming accepted and displayed on TV. I really don't get what's so unreasonable or "intolerant" about my stance on this.
