Thats Ok do we always have to be number 1???????

Its about damn time that these other countries pitched in. I for one am gald to see that we are number 4.

But have little doubt that as a people, Americans will dwarf any other countries contributions by citizens. Thats because as a people, we understand what it means to help thy neighbor. We will continue to send life saving supplies as the muslems plot to humicide bmb the survivors who take aid from the infidels. Just wait and see, it is only a matter of time.

The moment I saw Old Man Bush and Clinton flanking the President and heard they were asked to "CoChair" a fundraising effort for Tsunami victims I realized someone at the WH was having a very good day- look at the win-win situation brought about by this simple, yet absolutely brilliant, idea:

A) Take two split groups of "funders", who to some degree despise the other side, and put them in competition with each other

B) Sweeten the pot by putting two former Presidents in charge of the competing camps to goad on the richest and most infuential prospects

C) Raise HUGE sums of money for the victims of the disaster

D) Highlight the superiority of our capitalistic system by showing the power of personal donations versus government

It doesn't matter who you vote for every 4th November, if you're a decent and objective American you have to be able to recognize the genius of this strategy.

Nobody is ignoring it. It is just so painfully obvious that it does need to be pointed out and the media sees that. It isn't about who is running the show, it is about the victims.

Here is a pretty good article:

http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/invest...96.asp?GT1=5980

From link:

"The purpose of much foreign aid is to reduce poverty and encourage progress in developing nations. Toward that end, Roodman's CGD has attempted to capture other policies to construct a Commitment to Development Index for 21 rich nations. Here the United States comes in much better, at No. 7. The index considers trade policy, foreign investment, immigration, environmental policy, technology, and security (some military assistance), as well as official and private aid in ranking the generosity of nations."
