I guess our best bet is to hire a previous coach who hasn't been f

Today's players who grew up with the constant stimulation of video games, ipods and iphones have a hard time staying interested for a three month stretch if they alone are the ones responsible to stay motivated.

If players on your team cannot keep themselves "interested" as professionals for a 6 month stretch it's time to get some new hungry players.

So true.

I'm similar age to many players, grew up on video games. Yet I go out and play basketball multiple times a week and have plenty of drive to compete 100% for every game. I don't think the excuse of video games, etc flies.

The thing I don't like about Lovie is that he seems like a quiet, non-verbal leader. That's fine if you're name is Bill Belichick, but he's the exception IMO. After Jauron and Gailey, I want a dynamic change of approach. I want Kelly or Horton. Someone energetic. Why have Harbaugh and Carroll had so much success so quickly? A big part of it is that charged up their players and franchises with their energy. I'd really like Smith as my DC, but I just don't like him as a head coach in the modern NFL world.

Modern day elite professional athletes have to devote an immense amount of time and dedication to become and maintain elite ability/status. You really think it makes that much difference if they have their main coach on game day showing or not showing overt emotional reactions?

I personally don't care what the style of coaching my HC has as long as he wins games.
