Donahoe,Mularkey,Whaley,Wiz and Hunt, Gailey,Cowher . On and on. Wiz It is ???

And the one guy who was very good and could have turned around this defense..Dick Lebeau...They let him walk by not making him the DC at the right time. He went on to coordinate a top-5 defense for an entire decade.

Yeah forgot him....He wanted out of this mess.

I guess if you are restricted to retreads, getting them from a successful organization makes sense.

Yeah it worked out great.

When has Cowher ever been associated with the Bills??

He's the one guy on the your list that deserves serious consideration.

The Bills can get him if they're willing to allow him to have final say on player personnel decisions. That doesn't necessarily mean that Nix and Whaley have to be fired.

The so-called obsession with Pittsburgh is well founded. All the Steelers do is win.............i.e. make the playoffs on a regular basis and win Super Bowls.

plenty to criticize the bills about but this wasnt one of them

bills wanted him to stay and were prepared to make him hc but lebeau simply wanted to live in pittsburgh. there really is no debate about this

Mind you, we're talking the Bills, pro football's bottom feeder for over a decade. They can't be the Steeler organization, but is aspiring to be like one of the NFL's top feeders for the past 40 years and bringing in a couple of people that made a significant contribution to the Steeler success a bad thing?

Circumstances have changed greatly since 2010.

Bill Cowher wanted to be near his children and family while he could before they were all grown up and gone. Sadly, his wife passed in July 2010 and his girls have all graduated and moved on.

Not to mention that RW just now stepping away from the team completely now ushers in the freedom from meddling that I'm certain was a big concern to the bigger named coaches.

Shanahan is taken, however Cowher is out there and he might want to coach again for 8 mill per.

What coach would you rather have then a winning, blue collar, lunch pail kinda coach, who tells it like it is. The man knows talent in all aspects of the game, knows what assistants to hire and can build a defense with the best of them. All he need do is hire a Norv Turner / Cam Cameron to run the offense and its SB time for Buffalo again. Man, just think. A power running game and stout defense again. Just need the QB this year or next.

The Bills don't have to be a bottom feeder forever. Geesh. I wish people would give themselves more credit rather than just crawling up into the fetal position and accepting defeat.

We have a chance at this point in time to bring in a difference maker. It's a very important hire.

With so much on the line I would prefer to see the Bills go the route of somebody who has actually succeeded in the NFL rather than take a lottery chance on a hot college coach who doesn't know the NFL game and the NFL competition very well.

Just because Cowher wasn't interested three years ago doesn't mean he automatically won't interested now.

The difference may be that Brandon is now making the decisions rather than the ever meddling Wilson. if Brandon could convince Cowher that he would have final say on all player personnel decisions (i.e. FAs/vets/draft picks) and the team's willingness to spend to win that could do it.

Cowher would want the wherewithal to acquire a franchise QB as well and there is that possibility with the #8 pick overall in the 2013 draft.

With this team, you can't help but temper your optimism. 2 seasons ago it was 4-1, a season ago it was 6-2, this year it was Mario and the defense that only tried weeks 2,3,9-13. Past experience dictates you shoot down every pie in the sky optimist lest you let this backstabbing team build you up for another disappointment.

That being said with no meddling owner, a decent coach signing and a competent QB drafted, my tone might change.

I don't believe the bills ever considered him for a HC position. Mularkey offered him the DC position, but Lebeau had the choice of the same position with the Steelers and he took that.

My point was that the Bills did not lock him up earlier by giving him the DC role. If they had done that, when Mularkey came on, he would have had his DC of choice. The Bills by failing to lock him up allowed him to walk away and take an equivalent position as the DC of the Steelers.
