"The Jets reached out to ESPN analyst and former Colts president Bill Polian before hiring their general-manager search firm, but were turned down by Polian regarding any interest in replacing Mike Tannenbaum."

Man crush on Bill Polian :worthy:

EDIT: BTW, The Chicago Tribune reports Jon Gruden is now "leaning hard" toward staying at ESPN, and "turning down coaching feelers."

Haha, jests.

How great though if polian came here. That would be our best shot at getting a legit coach. But chances of him coming here aren't likely.

Polian would 100% come here. It's basically up to the Bills and he pretty much said if he can help the Bills in any way he would do it.

You know this to be true?

what is this based on and when did he say this?

Whats interesting to me about Polian is his hate for NE is well publicized If the opportunity where to present itself I could see him coming back to Buffalo as a team president. Polian may be 70 but he's still highly respected around the league and coaches will coach for a Polian team

You find an interview, you'll find him gushing about how much he loves Buffalo and/or the Bills. Finding him saying he wants to be the GM directly more difficult, but this is probably the closest. This is from an interview w/ WROC TV (apparently from Rochester) columnist Scott Pitoniak:

“Look, everybody knows how I feel about Buffalo,’’ Polian said, demonstrating some pretty nifty verbal dance steps. “That’s no secret. I’m a Buffalo guy. I loved my time there. I always love coming back. That’s not an issue. But that’s Mr. Wilson’s call, not mine. It’s very difficult for me to even talk about that. And I think the group that’s in there now is doing a nice job. I can now root for teams, and, so, I’m rooting for the Bills and I hope they do wel"

I believe that many GMs will not touch that team with a 1000 ft pole. Other than the glamour of New York City, i see no motivation to join that disfunctional organization.

Russ in full control, Whaley transitioning to GM. It would appear to anyone with .000001% brain functionality that Polian ain't going to join the Bills organization any time soon... unless it is as Ray Bentley's partner in the booth during preseason games.
