jethro_tull Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 ABSOLUTELY! as mentioned in another thread- Smith is rock solid as a coach and was hampered (if not strangled) by the poor decisions of former GM Jerry Angelo who crippled the team when he made the trade for Jay Cutler. The Bears were playing wack-a-mole because of that deal- need a WR- OK sign Brandon Marshall- uh-oh, need a TE and a new OL! Uh-oh, smack down the injury prone mole of ageing LB Brian Urlacher!
outsidethebox Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Some of you would say no to belichek if he were available. Unbelievable.
RealityCheck Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Great coach. However, I would not want him in any capacity influencing the offensive side of the ball.
BobChalmers Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 You won't be giving up 250 yards on the ground or 50 points a game.....but he needs help with offensive coaching.... Yes, because after three years we need to go back to Dick Jauron's "Tampa-2" 4-3. It's not the same 4-3 we have now, folks.
26CornerBlitz Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 You could do a lot worse than Lovie Smith as HC: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/SmitLo0.htm
Dr. Fong Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Yes, because after three years we need to go back to Dick Jauron's "Tampa-2" 4-3. It's not the same 4-3 we have now, folks. Just maybe we can find a coach that can alter his system to what we have rather than having to blow up the entire organization to fit what is in his play book. Wouldn't that be refreshing?
26CornerBlitz Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Charlie Casserly and Ian Rappaport think Buffalo would be a good place for Lovie: http://www.nfl.com/v...nd-Lovie-Smith?
NoSaint Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I'd take Lovie+Norv Turner..... that may not be far from what we see. wouldnt shock me.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Charlie Casserly and Ian Rappaport think Buffalo would be a good place for Lovie: http://www.nfl.com/v...nd-Lovie-Smith? Like I said earlier/elsewhere, I'd be in favor of hiring Lovie contingent on who he can install as his offensive coordinator. I'd personally love if he came here and brought Norv Turner as his OC.
NoSaint Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Yes, because after three years we need to go back to Dick Jauron's "Tampa-2" 4-3. It's not the same 4-3 we have now, folks. frankly, its not that different. and though its his base scheme, its not the only thing he calls all day. i chuckled a bit when his name came up, but add some linebackers that can play in space and create turnovers and its 6 of one half dozen of the other between lovie and DW scheme wise. Like I said earlier/elsewhere, I'd be in favor of hiring Lovie contingent on who he can install as his offensive coordinator. I'd personally love if he came here and brought Norv Turner as his OC. hes one of the first names that popped into my head for a defensive head coach. terrible head coach but a good enough coordinator that he keeps getting shots!
NoSaint Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 How about hell NO! come on.... maybe he would bring rusty back for S&C! youd love that barbarian!
BuffaloBillsForever Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 How about hell NO! HELL NO (emphasized) multiplied by infinity!
26CornerBlitz Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 come on.... maybe he would bring rusty back for S&C! youd love that barbarian! HELL NO (emphasized) multiplied by infinity! Yelling loudly without reasoning is meaningless
San Jose Bills Fan Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Yelling loudly without reasoning is meaningless On the other hand, in some circles it's the only language that's understood.
Meark Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Lovie has been a better head coach than anyone we've had on our sidelines the last 9 years.. but most of the people responding aren't interested? LOL.. ok
bills1960 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I want Lovie with the caveat that he is given a well respected OC and Joe D'Alessandris is kept.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 @AndrewSiciliano Lovie Smith should be as coveted and viable a candidate as any of the fired coaches. Give him an OL and he wins quickly. LOL!
ChasBB Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) From what I've read, seems the complaint in Chicago is that things just seemed stale or "old". No thanks. If that's the feeling he left everyone with in Chicago, I'm sure he'd bring that to Buffalo with him. No thank you. Edited December 31, 2012 by ChasBB
