I think Gilmore is actually a better corner than Tillman. Tillman has a ton of turnover this year but I think that is a product of the defense. Gilmore's cover skills can be elite while Tilmman has avearge cover skills.

Charles Tillman is the London Fletcher of cornerbacks except while London is viewed by some as undersized (actually he's short but not undersized), Tillman is a player before his time: the big physical cornerback that all teams now covet. Tillman is the prototype for guys like Browner and Sherman in Seattle. For well over a decade he's been not only one of the best cover men in the NFL but probably the premier run support cornerback.

Just like Fletcher, Tillman's been overlooked in Pro Bowl voting for nearly his entire career except for the last two seasons.

There's no way Gilmore is as good as Tillman is. Not yet.

except tillman is better than gilmore, hands down, at this point.

No doubt. Not close.

Everything else around him is going up in smoke. GM gets fired. OC fired(?). DC might not be back. ST coach retiring. QB situation is a total reset...

2 ways to look at that:

1) Everything else is changing, might as well get rid of Rex too

2) Everything else is changing, need some stability somewhere

AZ assistants also let go:

The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that General Manager Rod Graves and Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt have been relieved of their duties.

In addition, the following assistant coaches have also been let go by the team: Russ Grimm (Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line), Mike Miller (Offensive Coordinator), Chad Grimm (Offensive Quality Control), John McNulty (Quarterbacks), Frank Reich (Wide Receivers), and Tommie Robinson (Running Backs).

I have a hard time believing that either of those options really appeals... they certainly don't appeal to me.

and marty was not an option last time, if i recall, so i am not sure why he would be this time.
