NoSaint Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) Lets say, hypothetically, that you were given a tie by a coworker. Also hypothetically, that this tie wasn't all that stylish. How many times would you wear it around the office before casually retiring it? Edited December 28, 2012 by NoSaint
The Poojer Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 need more info.... 1.) Was it a chick that gave it to you 2.) Is she hot 3.) pics of her 4.) pic of the tie(i mean i would never say that the Jerry Garcia ties were particularly stylish...but I would wear them with shorts if i was in possession of one... side note..i am thankful that i have never had a job where I had to wear a tie...I've been lucky enough to have been able to wear jeans and golf shirts in my working career...i am not a tie guy at all.... How often do you wear a tie to work?
NoSaint Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) How often do you wear a tie to work? approximately 100% of the time. Edited December 28, 2012 by NoSaint
Jauronimo Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 approximately 100% of the time. Choice or dress code?
Beerball Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Does your line of work have a tradition of cutting the tie of someone who gets promoted? If not, start the tradition. Go to your friend in HR and tell them you need to dump a bad tie. Get them to promote you to some nonexistent position within the office. As part of your moving on up ceremony you can have someone cut your tie. Problem solved.
NoSaint Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Choice or dress code? code. stuck in a suit. Does your line of work have a tradition of cutting the tie of someone who gets promoted? Jauronimo Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 code. stuck in a suit. Wear it once. Ruin it. Blame it on the dry cleaner. Its a crappy tie, a normal dry cleaning may bleed out the color anyway. Or you could help it.

Or you could help it. haha - touche. i think im leaning towards knocking out a couple appearances with it on slow business days between now and spring (say 2-3) making sure she sees it and thanking her and then i can slide it in once in a very blue moon from there (if at all).
Chef Jim Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) First off it's a secret santa, how do you know who gave it to you? Anyway I wear a suit and tie every day too work so I'm not sure I'd wear it at all if it's really ugly. Edited December 28, 2012 by Chef Jim
BuffaloBud Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Say you thought it was such a good gift that you re-gifted in another secret santa exchange. Or, give it to charity.
KD in CA Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Assuming you don't make a habit of wearing $10 ties, I think once is sufficient before you retire it.
Ramius Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Wait until she's out sick for the day, and the next day tell her you wore the tie but she missed it.

Gotta agree with Pooj on this one... Chef Jim Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Wait until she's out sick for the day, and the next day tell her you wore the tie but she missed it. You know I thought about saying that but too easy to get busted unless she's the only one you work with.
JÂy RÛßeÒ Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 give it to charity. ^^^ this. There are many that give business wear to people who are trying to get their lives back together.
