The Bills were one of only two teams with just three 20-catch receivers. Twenty-two teams had at least five. Bledsoe had no dependable third option at wideout. Tight end Mark Campbell was just becoming a viable part of the offense when he was lost for the season. Then tight end Tim Euhus went down. Eric Moulds, like many a star wideout, wants nothing to do with the lead pass thrown over the middle.

Bledsoe's receiving options were, to some degree, minimized by a simplified offense designed to protect him from the sack. But let's be honest. When Josh Reed is your third receiver, how many times are you going that way anyway? Releasing Bobby Shaw might have made a necessary point, but it also gave Bledsoe one fewer experienced receiver.

To say that Bledsoe can't win a Super Bowl is a safe play against the odds. Many great ones haven't. In fact, of the league's current starting quarterbacks, only Tom Brady and Brett Favre have.

He's expendable...

Yes. Moulds is laying some kind of groundwork. His career is in it's twilight, and he, or more likely his agent is exploring ways to keep the bucks flowing.

I'm not critizing him - he's been a good and durable player for the Bills, but his days as the Big Cheese are close to over. It happens to all players.

Eric Moulds I think realizes that the Lee Evans era in Buffalo is dawning, and his days as the #1 WR here are numbered. Thats not a bad thing though, he apparently recognizes that as he gets older, his skills (just like every other NFL player) decreases so naturally he's making sure that he restructures his deal in order to keep cash flowing to him in the twilight of his career. Very smart move on his part, and also helps us free more cash up to spend on the O-Line (re-signing Jennings, adding vets) in the offseason.

Any restructuring has to be equal to his current compensation. Most of the time, you move future salary to signing bonus to minimize the short term cap hit. The long term cap hit is what TD must manage.

That's really good news......I really can't understand why some people want to trade him or even cut him......the guy is still a stud and he's a loyal Bill.......I'm glad he's willing to stay. Welcome back, Eric.

I think you are smoking crack if you think Evans can be a solid #1 receiver, i.e PP in Atlanta. EM is making Evans that much better, but by himself being on the smallish side, his speed is not enough to merit a #1. We still need a big solid WR on the other side, whether it be EM or someone else.

On the other hand, I am glad to see EM willing to do what it takes to stay in Buff. I just hope he finds his old hands this off seson.

Evans is definately a lot more skilled than Price. Price was the quintessential pure speed guy, never making clutch grabs in traffic or winning jump balls. Evans is a much more rounded player, but unfortunately his physical shortcomings may never allow him to do everything moulds does.

Anybody remember the play where he was the ONLY guy to try to run a interceptor down?

That is all I need to know about Eric Moulds......

And everything about Peerless Price. Man I miss that guy.

People do realize that by "restructure" he means "get a signing bonus that will affect the cap 3-4 yeras from now," right?
