Oxrock Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Happy New Year! The Winter Solstice has always been the beginning of a new year to me. Tomorrow will have more sunshine (daylight) hours than today. What more reason do we need to celebrate!?!? My days of SAD are about to wane. Winter blues are not just "feeling the blues", but part of Seasonal Adjustment Disorder. Living in Florida helps. But just the arrival of December 21st helps even more. Again.... HAPPY NEW SEASON! New year to me! http://youtu.be/_eyFiClAzq8
Jim in Anchorage Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 You should try Anchorage sun up 10:30 AM down 3:30 PM. But thanks for the clip seeing all those young folk having so much fun lifted my spirits
B-Large Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Love the solstice- Its great to see the 4:30PM evenings starting to extend, even if at first it is a few seconds that turns into minutes...
KD in CA Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I like the lengthening days too, but the winter blahs seem to get worse in January once the holidays are over and it gets colder. And they really bottom out once football is over!
BillsFanM.D. Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Killington tomorrow! That definitely makes one smile. Have a great time.
boyst Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) Winter is when there are no leaves on the trees. Winter is when we say goodbye to the birds and the bees. Winter is when we get an extra hour of z's. Winter is when a red-suited man brings us all lots of glee. Winter is when the snow falls and we yell "Happy New Year!" Winter is when you turn that special girl or guy's heart bright red with love and cheer until that time again next year. Winter goes away, and the birds and the bees and the leaves on the trees and the extra hour of z's all go back to where they should be. Winter. Edited December 21, 2012 by jboyst62
