Dr. Trooth
One must be mindful that no young, or up and coming, coaching candidate would ever consider taking the Bills HC job. The current situation is a setup for failure... right out of the gate. That's why Ralph hires retreads or HCs that stand zero chance of getting an HC job elswhere. They've got nothing to lose and after their HC failure with the Bills will always find employment in the NFL as a position coach or coordinator. The Donahoe era was the last time that young or up and coming HC candidates would take that job. Then the word got out that if you wanna coach the Bills there are contraints and caveats that only a coach that has nothing to lose would consider. Up and comers don't want to risk the chance of being on NFL HC job and done nad resovled to assistant caoch status for the rest of their NFL coaching career. Think Lane Kiffen or Josh McDaniel will ever get NFL consideration after theri fiascos in Oakland and Denver? The other thing to consider, given the state of the Bills, is in selecting an HC, who is out there with serious cred in taking over a s#it mess and turning it into win mode? There's no one out their except for big namers with a winning track record... that don't happen to be on Ralph's list. Ralph can't handle being challenged by an HC. He's old school and it's his way or no way.

He's old school and it's his way or no way. Anyone ever think Mike Mularky would ever get NFL consideration after his fiasco in Buffalo? Those 2 you mentioned might not get consideration again because of things they did with those teams, and not because the organisation is a mess. Do you really think (I know stupid question cause who actually thinks around here) that someone who actually wants the chance to be an NFL HC is going to pass up one of 32 positions in the league? This team isn't is as bad of shape as most here b*tch and moan about. As for the ownership instability, how is that going to matter if the coach is decent and is winning, do you think the new owner is going to come in and fire you just because they want to give their friend a job if your actually doing a good job? the possibility of relocation/having to move are all part of any coaching job. I would believe that if the coach had his choice between Buffalo and another job, they might take the other NFL head Coaching job. Do you really want someone who is too afraid to take over a losinig team? How many times does the Head coaching job become available on a winning team? This team could be a QB, and a few tweaks to a defence away from being a playoff team. Are they really worse off then the Browns or Chiefs or Raiders or Jaguars? Would anyone here trade the last decade of football with a Lions fan? Are the Bills really that much more of a Mess then the Jets? Are the Dolphins, a team the Bills already beat once this year really that much better?
